Skype is great. When I use it, at least! XD

My mother used Skype months before, though only for calling her parents in Costa Rica.

As for me, I'll mainly use it for messaging. If I want to call, there's a perfectly capable Nokia Lumia at my disposal.

You know, I downloaded Skype, but haven't really fiddled around with it that much.

I'll sign on later (after I get some rest, of course).

You're going to end up being one of those contacts that's never on at the same time as me, aren't you? Oh well I suppose it can't be helped, these things happen.

Now with my next semester of college starting up soon, I won't be on the computer much, period...

Especially now that I'm a full-time student, as opposed to the half-time I was doing prior.

I'm still kicking around the idea of going back to school.  At the very least, I'm going to look into figure drawing classes without it counting toward a degree, but I'm still debating forensic entomology.

Ditching me for that school chic? I see how it is Archy. ;~; But I'll be headed back in October too.

I just don't want a looming debt that I'll still be paying off after I die. :P  Though, paying for a single class might be doable.  If I can get by on what credits I already have, I may be able to get into an enrichment program and simply finish off my degree, or audit some classes.

I assume they have community colleges there. Go for that. The CUNY system in NYC is great. Not without its faults mind you, but it's cheap. I got my degree and I owe nothing in student loans.

Well, the social activities coordinator is setting up a time to tour our local community college, which I've attended in the past.  I'll ask lots of questions regarding adult enrichment studies, or just finishing off a degree with what credits I have.  I don't want to get roped into another four-year hitch and retake all of the core requirements a fourth time.

The key thing you want to look for when going back, in addition to your studies, is a good internship. That's where you build connections and learn in the field. My internship was invaluable.

Depending on what I plan to do, finding an internship might not be very easy.  If I'm finishing off my liberal arts/fine arts degree, I have few options open, and most of them would end up being some sort of teaching position, either in a high school or another college.  If I decide to go for forensic entomology, I'd be tossing my credits out the window and starting from scratch, aside from perhaps skipping the core requirements.

I may just see about finishing off that fine arts degree.  I could use the credits I accumulated with my digital arts degree and see where I can go with it.  Basically, I'm just after the degree.  I need that piece of paper because that's what employers want to see, regardless of what the actual degree is.

Yes and no. While a degree is very good to have in terms of how much money you'll get, what employers care more about is your "emotional intelligence" which means your ability to work well with others and how quickly you pick up on things. Depending on the industry, experience is much more valued than the degree. This is why internships are so important. They give you a stepping stone to build the experience you need to succeed. Not to mention they help you get your foot in the door, whether there or somewhere else in that field.

There's also lying on your resume. That helps as well. Cause seriously, a LOT of employers do NOT do a detailed background check.

I'm doing fine, just browsing around the net to kill time. Nothing too interesting going on with me at the moment.

Sounds like me. However, I still have an art trade to get back to, once I'm done.

Fear me.

I need to take more commissions.

The problem with commissions, though, is that sometimes, you're requested to draw some weird stuff.  My last commission was certified nightmare fuel.

Always interesting to watch the "Who's Online" when someone logs in to see where they go first.

what in blazes did I wake up to

Ruri how can you be arsed to ever do that stuff. It's hard enough for me just to make one post in here half the time.

He needed something, other than me, to entertain himself. Besides, he use to do that, before he left us.

Seems the shop I go buy bread from, hasn't finished their "merging" yet. Not going to ask them, but I'm positively sure they'll take another two months to finish.

Fear me.

Regarding the college stuff, CUNY schools are pretty good. I'm part of a program there called ASAP, and they pay for your textbooks, metro cards and give you many career and social development opportunities.

Ditching me for that school chic? I see how it is Archy. ;~; But I'll be headed back in October too.

Aw, I'd never dream of ditching you, Ahrzayl. I'll still be here. <3
