If it's in Kalos I'm sure there will be customizations with more clothes and possibly hair styles.  Gen 7 I'm not sure about, except we'll most likely have Sinnoh remakes assuming DS games are not compatible with the NX if it is indeed some Hybrid console.

That's what the rumors say about the NX. It's going to be a console/handheld hybrid. Then again, maybe I shouldn't be putting so much stock into patents that Nintendo may not end up using for the NX.

I really hope trainer customization comes back. That's been something I always wanted the Pokemon games to have. When it was given to me in X/Y and then ripped away in ORAS, it was jarring to say the least.

My justification is they don't want to wear fancy clothes while Diving, in this game you actually get a maguffin that let's you breath underwater because it makes sense, even though that wasn't in the original game. 

But yeah the NX patents are all over the place, weird controllers, cloud based systems, I just want to wait for some confirmation than assume anything.

The Pokemon games have a sad habit of one-offing a feature that makes the game feel more personal (remember how we could have ANY Pokemon out of its Pokeball in HG/SS?).  I certainly WANT customization to come back, but I agree with Sakura in that it's unlikely unless they intend to revisit Kalos.  But God, I hope I'm wrong.

I suppose we can take some encouragement in that X/Y was actually the second trainer customization game, after Battle Revolution.  Not that there was much else to that one, but hey, it also let you change your battle text, which was cool.

Yeah I liked what they did with Battle Revolution and you could change your age too more or less.

But yeah I mean as cool as Pokemon following you was I can't help but think they would have a hard time making a Wailord follow you or restrict it to Pokemon of a certain size in a 3D game.  I did like having unique surfing models though for certain Pokemon.  Sharpedo made the Water routes much more tolerable thanks to his increased Surfing Speed.

While its unlikely to happen, given Pokemon's target audience, it would be interesting to play as an adult at least once. It would certainly change the formula a bit. Maybe you work at a PokeMart for a few years and you get tired of these entitled trainer kids coming in and demanding Masterballs all the time.

I like the idea of it, but I'm also skeptical of its execution. There's a reason why GameFreak hasn't done a Pokemon MMO and it's the reason why I'm leery of Pokemon Go. The Pokemon games have a very strict progression. The progression doesn't work when you think about it as a world, but I'm willing to guess nobody here really cares about that. The game is designed to make the player stronger as they progress into new areas. This can't be the case if every trainer in the game was replaced with another player. It builds a very anti-newbie environment from the beginning.

If Pokemon Go has trainer battles, it'll become difficult to compete with other trainers pretty quickly for most people. A hostile environment toward new players is poison for MMOs. While Pokemon Go isn't exactly an MMO, it has the potential to be. Just saying that competitive online Pokemon battles only lures in a specific minority of Pokemon players. Most players play Pokemon casually. It's a recipe for a lot of toxicity if the game doesn't have proper mechanics in place to not allow preying on weaker trainers.

Is Pokemon Go just about catching Pokemon or do you raise them by fighting other Pokemon too? I never really saw anything that talked about it that much other than: it's Pokemon IRL, yo!

It's kinda funny because when they announced Pokemon Go, my initial reaction was that I thought it was cool. Then I thought about it for a second and thought, "I hope this doesn't mean there isn't going to be a 3DS Pokemon game in 2016." At the end of the day, I would rather have a real Pokemon game than some gimmicky spin-off.

I'm sure there's going to be something in the next Coro Coro, I'm really curious about how those Zygarde forms are going to fit into the games.  Also wonder if Mega Butterfree and Fearow would be a thing.

Mega Butterfree?! Really? Butterfree is almost always in my starting party. It's pretty good in the early game. Adding a mega evolution would finally give me a reason to keep it longer. Butterfree is actually one of my favorite Pokemon, for some reason.

That's actually why Colosseum is one of my favorites: You're playing as a renegade from the evil team, and it's the only time you're given the role of an experienced trainer.

Also it's the only game where I felt the need to raise/bond with your Pokemon was properly executed in gameplay.  Any other game just has you leaving droves of critters rotting away in storage.

I thought a third Kalos game (Z, or XY&Z to concide with the anime) is pretty much a given by this point, since they made Zygarde into a morphing thing now. Like how Rayquaza and Giratina before.

... Unless they go the way with Kyurem and have sequels to XY instead. X2Y2 anyone?

Also @Yuffie, the protags age keeps increasing. XY protags are around 17ish IIRC so we might actually get a fully-fledged adult if the cycle continues.

Actually, the only confirmed older protags are Hilda/Hilbert. The ages of Serena/Calem really depends on their clothing, but their default implies either about, or slightly younger than Hilda/Hilbert.
