Just a thought I had after reading some of the comments in my always fun Dear SEGA thread. Not just a thought, but a question, being What do Soundtracks do for you?
For those who don't know, soundtracks are actually my favorite genre of music. For Protoman Blues, soundtracks have the wonderful ability to take him back in time, to fond memories of past gaming throughout his entire life. That's what a good soundtrack does, IMO. This goes for not only game soundtracks, but movie soundtracks as well. I've always felt that soundtracks are just such an instrumental part in the field of entertainment. I mean, when you get right down to it, the Super Mario Bros. theme is easily one of the most famous songs ever, in the history of mankind. It's just as well known as a classic Mozart piece. Hell, one article I read had an interesting take that if Beethoven were still alive today, he'd be writing game music.
However, this is just my take on soundtracks. I'm curious to hear if anyone else feels the same way I do.
