They look the same though, the Mini and the 2011 hardware revision are the ones that have no Gamecube support.

The more recent Wii models actually retain the slots in the casing for the Gamecube controller/memory card ports, but there's nothing going TO those holes. So yeah, GCN support removed.

and the Wii Mini lacks those AND any internet capabilities whatsoever.
