I won my first random Wifi battle...with DRAGONITE POWER!
(then Ruri kicked my ass -u-')

The random battle was funny.  3v3, and every single fall went to the "wrong" type matchup.  Their Sylveon beat my Gardevoir, my Doublade beat their Greninja, their Mega Gardevoir beat my Doublade, and my Dragonite beat both Mega Gardevoir and Sylveon.

Also cleared the Elite Four and did some Friend Safari-ing.  Got my first non-event Shiny in any Pokemon ever: Shiny Fraxure!  With Hidden Ability Unnerve!
...which nobody in their right mind would ever pick over Mold Breaker.

Yeah, it's always good to win your first random Wi-Fi battle! XD

Congrats on the shiny Fraxure. He can battle my shiny Flygon one day!  8D

This is like a really hilarious comics with references everywhere.

Also found Engery Ball finally and all my Pokemon who weren't special attacking monsters before are now, to Victory Road!

Considering some pretty poor decision making on my part in that battle I was somewhat surprised at the outcome.

Quickman

Don't feel bad, Hypershell.  You could always battle me.  I'm terrible. XD

Protoman Blues

I think I only beat Hypershell the one time. He was not expecting my tactics! XD

PB is many things, but I've never thought "subtle" to be one of them. XD

Yeah, well, if I had any sense I'd have switched Gardevoir in when I knew full well you were going to Dragon Pulse me.  I never fought a Noivern before.

I actually tried to Dragon Pulse a Gardevoir in another match earlier today, pretty embarrassing even if I did still win. I'm so used to their old typing that the ones that had Fairy added just trip me up because I don't think about it.

So I'm trying super training for the first time and both my Chesnaught and Blastoise were max before I did it and I can do the secret training, I'm going to try to get a second Shiny Stone later.

Arikado

I got two Protean Froakies through Wonder Trade.

Sakura Leic

Ugh I randomly decided to go to the Smogon threads to read up on Florges and was seriously disgusted.  I'll admit I do talk competitive stuff and most likely have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm one of the few people who prefer Dusknoir over Eviolite Dusclops because I like to do damage over being a godly wall, but at least I'm not as narrow minded as that crowd is.

The thing is that Pokemon battles are situational, you have no idea what you're going up against and it's not all Ferrothorns and Garchomps.  I think it's better to go with a strategy that is not listed there because I feel that either A. I feel I can't pull it off or B. I like to have Type Coverage and the strategy doesn't provide enough. and C. Unpredictability.

Then again this is what happens when you look at competitive anything, and you probably won't like it because of it.

What is 'Protean' anyway?
Before the Pokémon uses a move, it becomes a pure Pokémon of that type.

Which means any move you use becomes a STAB Move.

Finally all the trading is done.
And Y can finally officially start. Although I'll be focusing more on X.

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

I guess all I can really say is it isn't exactly what I'd expect out of a $4.4M game

It doesn't even have mouth animations

Protoman Blues

I'll admit, I think I'm going to raise a Mr. Mime solely for that silly animation!  8D

There's a lot of "competitive" strategies that I feel simply don't work that well in the "anyone can throw random crap at you" environment of Wifi.  I remember back when Rest/Sleep Talk was all the rage, tried it once, and never looked back.  This is, after all, an outfit that considers any accuracy/evasion move that takes up an actual move slot to be cheap and yet took a suspiciously long time to banish Garchomp and his Sand Veil to the "Uber" tier.  It's not that you can't learn from them, but you can't just go through their movements either.  Most of the competitive scene was built under an arbitrary unofficial rule set, using an unofficial simulator where you can just punch in whatever hidden stat values you want.  In the end, you gotta do what works for you.

Yeah that's how I feel too, I'll just destroy everything with Choice Scarf Florges.  Screw Wish Recover that thing can function as a Special Attacking Tank with Choice Scarf.  Plus it has Petal Dance and only Steel and Poison are super effective against it.  I think it can function outside of support.
