Wasps, termites, and ants are all pretty much the same species. The differences are few. Fire ants are also known as wingless wasps.

Wasps, bees, and ants are order Hymenoptera, with different families, genus, and species. Termites belong to the order of Blattodea and are only very distantly related to Hymenoptera. None of them are "pretty much the same species". Same order for wasps, bees, and ants, but not termites. Termites are in the same class, which is Insecta.

Fire ants are not wingless wasps. They belong to the same order and suborder as wasps (Hymenoptera and Apocrita), but their family is Formicidae. Velvet ants (Mutillidae) are true wingless wasps.

Ah. I had a feeling that that may have been a male. I also suspect that those jaws would have a relatively weak biting force, unlike the female. In other insect species, when males display large mandibles like that, such as the dobson fly, the jaws tend to be relatively weak in comparison to the female's normal mandibles, which could inflict a painful nip (I've been bitten by a female dobson fly. Not pleasant). I suspect, then, that the male may eat very little, if at all. If it eats, it may simply eat nectar.
