Phoenix had spent quite some time gathering evidence, even talking to a local gym leader from Cerulean to get a story from her. Confident that he'd obtained all he could, he was quite ready for the impending trial.

"Be careful, though," Misty warned, "Team Rocket is sneaky.  They don't care what dirty tricks they pull, they'll do anything to get Mewtwo back."  She sighed as she wandered over to a vending machine to help herself to a snack. "I don't even wanna know what they'll do if they get its clones, too...  Those baby Pokemon were such cuties..."

Phoenix nodded. Nearly every case I've been involved with had some kind of foul play involved, this is nothing new... he thought.

[White-Jet]

Most of the day was spent testing out the ability copying capabilities of Yan-Yan's Fool card.  With Hierophant monitoring the situation to avoid any further inadvertent teleportation accidents, the examination goes as smoothly as everyone had hoped.

Yeung looked to his files, then to Joe and Ryuta.  "I'd like to conduct a psychological evaluation, and I'm going to need some help with that, in case Mewtwo has difficulty in understanding commands.  Basically, the test would consist of problem-solving exercises, and puzzles.  There is a written portion, but I'm not sure if Mewtwo is able to read, so that could be conducted orally.  Basically, this would be to ascertain how its mind functions.  Would you two be willing to help out with this?  Do you have any questions?"

Though Ryuta seemed more preoccupied with where Domino and James disappeared to, he still managed to get most of what Yeung was intending to do.

"You are going to give him something to eat after that Glucose test, right?" he eventually asked.

[Quickman]

Yeung nodded. "Of course.  Until then, though, it needs to fast.  Basically, what we're doing is giving its pancreas a workout, and that needs to be done on an empty stomach.  Ten-twelve hours is a sufficient fasting time for the test, and the test takes two hours, so we could figure out something to occupy it in the meantime."

Posted on: August 15, 2013, 06:52:10 AMMeanwhile, Domino was rummaging through her desk drawer for some cough drops.  That Harley persona was hell on her throat and she wanted nothing more than to drop it, but doing so would betray her identity to Ryuta.  Though, with her half-hearted performance all day, she wouldn't be surprised if Ryuta saw through the the disguise as well as Mewtwo did.

Finally finding her cough drops, she unwrapped one and popped it into her mouth, looking to James.  "Hear anything from Jessie?  I'm working to get Meowth out of the lab, I don't like how Yeung was ogling him today.  I mean, if he wants to give Meowth a psych eval, that's fine.  Really, he should have one, and I think you're long overdue for yours.  You and Jessie."

[White-Jet]

Hearing the idea of a psych eval through Yeung made James cringe, not wanting to imagine how much worse their trial would be if it involved Pokemon fusion.  He was more than happy to pick the other subject instead.

"Not a word," he mutters while flipping through the remaining three cards on Tarot Skitty's back, having peeled the Hanged Man card off to make Yamask less of a sore thumb than it needs to be, "I'm almost tempted to use that Wheel of Fortune card she obsessed over to figure out where she is and how she's going to fair...."

(If pages were Pokedex entries, this one would be Mewtwo's! )

[Quickman]

(Lol.   And going by that logic, if anniversaries were Pokedex entries, last month's 150th would've been Mewtwo's. )

Domino shrugged. "If it works, go for it.  I haven't been able to reach her at all."  She accessed her computer for a moment. "Oh, the boss is in town.  He said he'll be stopping by after he's done at the station.  Wants to see how things are going."

[Dr. Wily II]

Joe nodded blankly at Dr. Yeung's request. Too much babble has been going on, and it was getting late. He just wanted to get some rest, and do whatever needs to be done the next day.

Officer Jenny somehow managed to get some sleep after forgoing escape. Though still a bit weak, she went to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Drinking it down noisily, she stood over the sink to have a good look at herself. Large eyebags, panda eyes, totally looking like a wreck. Sighing, she walked back towards her bed, and flopped into it. She stared at the ceiling fan, and nodded off.

[Quickman]

(Bitchy Jenny needs to find a way out.  Maybe the doggie door?)

Yeung nodded to Joe. "Oh, a psych eval is easy.  Basically, all I'll need you to help with is to explain things to Mewtwo if it doesn't understand.  For example," he pulled out a sheet of paper, "one of the tests is a sentence-completion test.  Mewtwo can't read, can it?  Can it write?  If not, this portion can be done orally, with one of you reading the prompt aloud, and then Mewtwo completing it."

[Dr. Wily II]

(Let her get her sleep... So that she is refreshed to throw her weight around again, spouting accusations like a Chatot. )

Joe nodded again, but stopped midway. "Read to it? Sounds demeaning..."

[Quickman]

Yeung simply stared at him. "If it can't read, then it needs to be read to.  We really have no other option beyond that, unless you want to take the time to teach it how to read and write."  He paused as he reshuffled his papers. "Though, that would be an ideal way to gauge its learning capacity and its grasp of abstract concepts..."

[Dr. Wily II]

Joe just looked at Dr. Yeung, totally engrossed in researching into Mewtwo, rather than doing what their original plan. Although... This DOES help in stalling. Joe shrugged, and nodded again. "Whatever you say doctor. Anything else?"

[White-Jet]

James compresses his lips as he pulls out the Wheel of Fortune card and stares at it a while.  He still remembers Jessie's hissy fit whenever it invaded her personal feelings and drilled blunt accusations into her skull, but since he's never actually used the card himself, he couldn't be sure if he'll fall into the same situation.

He presses the card to his forehead, and a single thought causes a sudden flash of images to fly through his mind.  Jessie trying to get control of the Superia, a crazed scientist obsessed with the pink haired traitor, Ahrzyal, ungodly torment on hundreds of Pokemon, most of which were Clefairy evolution, Ahrzyal being sucked into a strange Pokeball, a strange 10-year-old knocking Jessie around and playing rock music, and finally the crazed scientist swiping control of the Superia and dragging her and the human Chariot to some strange lab under a whirlpool.

He yelps in shock and chucks the card away from him, seeing it float to a stop while he nearly plasters himself to a nearby wall and pants with sweat pouring down his face.

"I have no idea what just happened...." he mutters hysterically, "But whoever that doctor is that's with Jessie and the Grand Rhydon is completely insane!"


Ryuta continues to listen in, more interested in helping Mewtwo stay out of Team Rocket's mitts and intentions.  This yuts wasn't doing a good job of keeping his disguise, but Ryuta decides not to let him know he had seen through their disguises in nearly the same manner as Mewtwo with only exception being a different means of finding out.  His only reason for playing along was because he also sensed their suspicion towards their boss' desire to get Mewtwo back by any means necessary, and wanting to stall long enough to figure out what it was and whether it would be any threat to their attempts to get him back.

Yeung nodded. "Well, we can get started with the eval.  I would suggest that we start the eval during the glucose tolerance test, but there are some side effects that we should watch out for, and it would be best if Mewtwo took the psych eval on a full stomach.  However, during the glucose test, Mewtwo should be closely monitored, as it could faint during the test, usually within an hour after drinking the glucose solution."  He nodded to the holding cell.  "Let's get this out of the way, get a baseline blood sample, and then we'll need to figure out something to pass the time until the end of the test."


Domino raised an eyebrow and quickly checked her records.  "Steiner."  She shook her head slowly.  "Alright, I'm sending a team to their location.  I'm still getting signals from Jessie's comlink, so we can track her, but I haven't been able to actually call her.  I'll send Slade out there now..." she trailed off, grabbing her own comlink. "Slade, got an emergency assignment for you.  I'm sending you the coordinates right now.  ... Yeah, get your best guys together and head on over.  We have some agents who are in trouble.  ... Yeah.  Steiner.  ... Honestly, I don't care.  Bring the agents back alive.  I don't care about Steiner. ... No, he doesn't know.  It's none of his business.  ... Just get to those coordinates immediately.  Keep me updated.  Over and out."

Putting down her comlink, she double-checked the coordinates and resent them. "Okay, Slade's taking his team."  Looking to James, Domino gave a nod.  "He'll make sure to get Jessie back alive."

[Dr. Wily II]

"Ok then." Joe said, before heading out and towards Mewtwo's holding cell.

[White-Jet]

Ryuta places his hand on Kumitsune, who had since woken up and gone back to sitting on his shoulder, follows after them, though how he'll contribute to this part of the eval is anyone's guess until something happens that he feels he should intervene in.

Domino raised an eyebrow and quickly checked her records.  "Steiner."  She shook her head slowly.  "Alright, I'm sending a team to their location.  I'm still getting signals from Jessie's comlink, so we can track her, but I haven't been able to actually call her.  I'll send Slade out there now..." she trailed off, grabbing her own comlink. James kept his lips compressed as he nods slowly.  Just as concerning as Jessie's welfare was the traitor that once worked for them.  What was it about her that not only had the mad scientist obsessed over her well being but also caused her to be concealed in something that could only fit items and Pokemon?  It was almost as if she, herself, was a Pokemon.

He tries to shake the thoughts out of his head; there were more important matters to attend to, and finding Meowth befor Dr. Yeung found a reason to do any uncomfortable experiments on him was his next priority.

"Can you tell me where Meowth is again...." he mutters almost panicked, "I think that shock knocked some sense out of me and made me forget where he was last."

[Quickman]

Domino nodded. "Where the clones are kept.  Yeung might've put him back in a kennel, so go ahead and get him out.  Bring him here, too, so he can stay out of trouble." She paused, then looked at James. "Oh, Yeung said something about running some two-hour test on Mewtwo later.  Find out when, because it's not like it'll be doing anything else at the time, so we could get some more information from it.  Up to Meowth if he wants to join you, but I'd advise having him hide out in here."

[White-Jet]

James nods as he heads off towards the located area, finding the clones had since been let out of their Pokeballs and crammed into cages that more than fit their average originals' sizes. The cloned Charizard had been glaring at him since he poked his head along the windowed door, growling irritably at the cramped spaces and the amount of scientists poking and prodding him with whatever instruments they think will help "better understand his existence".

Gulping nervously, he slinks into the room and down the hallway, getting equal bemused looks from the other clones until he finds Meowth at the far end of the room, being somewhat different from his cloned counterpart as he had his paws on the cage rather than at his feet.

"Is the trial starting yet...?" Meowth mutters, "The clones are getting restless and the cloned Charizard almost got its muzzle clamped shut after nearly burning two of the scientists that got close to it."

"We're just beginning the examination...." James mutters, pulling the cage open and picking Meowth up, "Domino wants me to take you back to her office for safe keeping.  Whatever's going on she doesn't seem to trust anyone else knowing your ability to speak more than your name."

"Anything to get some stretching room....  I just wish we could bring the other clones along so they don't feel just as cramped."

James remains nonchalant as he takes Meowth back towards Domino's office.  Once he drops the cat Pokemon off, he heads to where Mewtwo is being examined, noticing Yeung, Joe and Ryuta having already gone inside.  He decides to follow after them just to carry out the other obligation Domino gave him.

[Quickman]

Yeung had just finished drawing some blood when James entered. "Glad you can join us, we're going to be stuck here for a while," he bandaged the injection site and handed Mewtwo a cup of liquid. "Drink this.  It's not going to taste good, but you need to drink all of it."

Mewtwo glowered, snatched the cup away, and downed it in one gulp, only to recoil in disgust.  He sat there in silence, glaring out at the others from his hooded eyes.  He had spent most of the day being poked and prodded, only to be poked and prodded some more, with more poking and prodding to come. "Is this absolutely necessary?  I was told that I was only to be examined."

"And that's what we're doing," Yeung nodded. "This test is just to make sure that your body is functioning as it should.  It runs a little long, but it really can't be helped.  People have to take this test sometimes, too."  He looked to James again.  "We're running a glucose tolerance test, so Mewtwo will need to be monitored for a couple hours.  Nothing major, just need to keep an eye on it, as since it's been fasting, there's a possibility that it could faint.  Many reasons for that, one of which its blood pressure simply plummeting, so we need to watch it."

Mewtwo glared at Yeung, but remained quiet. 

"While we're here," Yeung pulled up a chair, "if there's anything you need to ask it, go for it.  Earlier, we were discussing a psych eval, and we're not sure if it is able to read and write.  Do you happen to have any insight on that?  I couldn't find anything in its records."


Since Meowth was dropped off, Domino had taken the opportunity to snap his picture--though his expression was that of bewilderment--and put together an ID card, which she printed out, attached to a lanyard, and handed to Meowth.  "Here.  Keep this on you at all times.  That should keep Yeung's mitts off of you.  He can't seem to understand what I meant about no testing my agents."

[Dr. Wily II]

As Dr. Yeung was speaking with James, Joe had began to slowly approach Mewtwo. Seeing Mewtwo glare up with hooded eyes, he froze, before beginning his slow approach again, and soon he was within an earshot. "Just make it easy for yourself, and go along with the procedures."

[White-Jet]

Ryuta approached the other side of Mewtwo, bending down just enough to whisper in his ear, "As much as I hate agreeing, the procedure might go faster if you try to hold your temper a little while longer."

James glances over to Mewtwo, seeing his irritated glare turning from one person to another before gulping and backing towards the door, "I was just stopping by to see when that two-hour test you were going to do with Mewtwo will be.  Need to be ready in case I have to get involved at any point."


"Er...thanks...?" Meowth mutters while examining the card, his befuddled expression soon overshadowed by a sense of curiosity and admiration to his own appearance on the photo.

[Quickman]

Domino nodded. "Yeung hasn't been with us for very long.  He came to us not too long after Steiner, they used to work together, hold pretty much the same beliefs, though Yeung's a bit more reserved.  He knows when to rein himself in, but he also likes to, ah... indulge his curiosities."  She glanced to the door.  "It took me some finangling to get you out of that lab.  Yeung's set on studying you.  I mean, yeah, we're keeping him occupied with Mewtwo, but he wants to add you to his roster."  She leaned forward, fixing Meowth in her gaze.  "He hasn't done anything to you, has he?"


Mewtwo was quiet for a moment before he finally relented. "Very well.  What do I need to do?"

"Nothing right now," Yeung nodded and busied himself with something on the counter, "just sit tight for a couple hours.  I'm giving your pancreas a workout, so in a couple hours, I'll test your blood again and see how you did.  If you feel faint, though, let us know."  He turned around to face James, Joe, and Ryuta.  "If you want to ask it anything, go for it.  Like I said, most of this test is just a waiting game.  The thing is, though, Mewtwo can't be up and about, in case it faints.  Safety precaution."  He turned his back to them and went about his work.

Mewtwo glared at Yeung, then looked to the others. "May as well interrogate me once more..." He trailed off, looking to James. "How are my clones?"

[White-Jet]

"Uncomfortable...to say the least...." James mutters, "They would have been better off being left in their Pokeballs, but apparently the scientists wanted to do their own examinations to see how they were made and what made them different from the other Pokemon...."

Ryuta's frown tightens slightly at hearing this.  It may have been necessary to avoid hurting itself, but keeping it from even standing is almost pushing it.  But he still couldn't do anything about it since he was only a guest brought along to keep Mewtwo "in-line" and not interfere with anything else.


"Not unless he did something to me while I was sleeping last night," Meowth said, "I was put in a pretty cramped crate at the far end of the room, so Dr. Yeung was too occupied with the other clones to even notice me, much as I hate to shove them in front of the bus."

[Quickman]

Domino flattened her lips into a thin line. "Yeah.  Honestly, I didn't have anything against those clones back on Mount Quena.  I was just doing my job.  Giovanni said to grab 'em, so I did.  Now, though..." she trailed off, looking at her computer.  There was just something that made her uncomfortable.  Back then, she had no qualms with capturing the clones and even saying what their intended purpose was.  They were to be used in experiments and as bait for Mewtwo.  However, Domino wasn't going to actively participate in those experiments.  She was simply going to hand them off to the research team and get back to her own work.  This time, however, she was an active member of the research team, as dictated by her undercover status.  She had participated in the examination of Mewtwo, but eventually managed to think of an excuse to duck out.  It wasn't anything intensive, either, just a simple physical and a few x-rays.

Domino let out a breath and shook her head, trying to clear it.  She had prided herself with being headstrong, but she was starting to have her doubts as of late.  The whole situation just doesn't sit right with her.  The business with Cipher, seeing their agents milling about, this whole Shadow Pokemon project and Giovanni keeping her in the dark, Mewtwo's clones left to the whims of Yeung's curiosities, Yeung's own strange interest in Meowth, along with Jessie's disappearance and Steiner's involvement in that...  Something was brewing, and she wasn't sure what.  Whatever it was, she didn't like it. 

"I haven't seen the clones myself, yet, but," Domino changed the subject, "just out of curiosity... Are any of those baby clones there?  Remember the Nidoqueen?  I'd assume that the babies would be full grown by now, but I don't want Yeung's team finding out about them.  That's a whole can of Wurmples right there, if he found out that that Ryhorn and Nidoqueen bred..."


Mewtwo felt anger rise up in him, but he fought it back down enough to keep from lashing out.  "If there is anything that you wish to know about my clones, I will tell you.  Just... do not hurt them."
