Meh, We could always have a spin off 16-bit game with only Axl in it.

That way, most fans wouldn't be tempted to play it for X or Zero and have to put up with Axl!

minus axl would be [tornado fang]ing awesome~
agreed.
also, 16 bit X seies should STAY Axl-less. that would include a 16 bit X9. Axl just wouldnt work with Snes X series mechanics. he'd be an X clone minus the charged shot.

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Protoman Blues

It could probably use a little more cowbell as well.

Dr. Wily II

Same thing with more lensflare for Sigma's head and chin! 8D

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Don't diss Axl... he's cool.

Anyway I think Axl should have at least a spin-off game telling his own adventure away from X and Zero. Plus 16-bit Axl is awesome-looking! Just make his gameplay similar to Model A, but mixing it up more to make Axl more unique and different from X. That's my two cents.

Anway do you plan to make any sequels after this game if it's successfully (which is 100% sure)?

thats just it, Model A is in the ZX series. the ZX series is 32 bit with some 3d elements, and still has a few bells and whistles. it has its gimmicks. plus Model A is not Axl. it may look and act like him, but it is not him. Axl is different from X in that he has a rapid fire gun that fires in all directions. that is his main gimmick. that wouldnt work on a 16 bit platform, especially if capcom abuses its "retro" factor. then he wont be any different than classic megaman with a dash. no charge shot, and probably no transformation... though they *might* leave that in.
also, I can diss Axl all i want cuz Im entitled to my opinion.

one question though JKB, when you release the game, how will it be released? hosted and playable on another site such as newgrounds or something, or will it be a downloadable game?

You can't confirm or deny this. It's: he might be Axl, he might not be.

So, I understand that the game is going to work like a Metroid style of exploration, but is it going to be strictly linear where you need to explore specific areas to reach other ones, or is it going to just be one big map where you can choose and go wherever you want to go and fight the bosses that you want to fight?

The game will not be linear, but you won't be able to go to all places from start.

I will not make a sequel or any other megaman related fan game after this one.

Hosted on the game website(not done yet), newgrounds and others if they accept a huge file and a downloadable version but internet conection will be required to play.

Wow, It's going to take a while for me to listen to everything...

Here's something I've been wondering JKB... What's the story going to be like?
I mean, is there anything you can tell us without it being a major spoiler?
I curious as to how to pertains to the game's title.

I rather not tell anything about the story, to avoid subjective thoughts, speculations or ranting.

Alright, it's your call...

The music is nice too!

Thank you so much.

I listened to the 3 songs available on Youtube and I have two questions:

1: Will the OST be available for download after the release of the game and..

2: This really sound like the SNES Megaman X sound engine, is that what your musician used to compose his music?

Yes he ripped the soundfont. I have no knowledge about that, so don't even ask me.

If we decide to make it available maybe a direct link to the OST page on the game site. We'll discuss all this when the time comes  ;)

Holy crap, this is amazing. But man, do X and Zero look over powered.

Forte.

was still 32 bit. they've never done something like MM&B forte with the 16 bit X games.

This is very silly reasoning, especially since Contra on the NES of all things had multi-angular firing.

Bits don't mean much in terms of straight gameplay.

Flame

mm. whatever. I just dont think Axl would be all that great in a Snes styled X game.
though, to be fair, there are a lot of factors involved, if they were to make Snes X9. such as how "retro" their willing to go in terms of gameplay.

All directions != 8 directions though.

That was going to be my next example when he said "Was 32bit", too. High five.

There's really not much "retro" you can do in the X Series. X never really had the dash normally until later X games, so he always got it from the leg upgrade. Zero only got the double jump in X4 and that was from a Maverick. The most retro they could get would be complete X1 style, including original armor Zero with only buster, but that would be a terrible idea because Zero is all about the Z Saber :P

The core of the X Mechanics would still be there. Zero dashes normally, not hard for Axl to do the same. We've seen that 7-directional firing can be done easily, so Axl would be a shoe in. The biggest problem would be the copy ability, but really, who the hell uses the copy ability?

Did Axl use all directions in X8? I don't remember. Either way, it'd only be 7 in an SNES title, as even Forte couldn't shoot straight down
