Did Axl use all directions in X8?

Axl's arm is analog. It means you can shoot in more precise directions than just 8 and that includes down and diagonal aim. ^^

That was going to be my next example when he said "Was 32bit", too. High five.
There's really not much "retro" you can do in the X Series. X never really had the dash normally until later X games, so he always got it from the leg upgrade. Zero only got the double jump in X4 and that was from a Maverick. The most retro they could get would be complete X1 style, including original armor Zero with only buster, but that would be a terrible idea because Zero is all about the Z Saber

The core of the X Mechanics would still be there. Zero dashes normally, not hard for Axl to do the same. We've seen that 7-directional firing can be done easily, so Axl would be a shoe in. The biggest problem would be the copy ability, but really, who the hell uses the copy ability?
Did Axl use all directions in X8? I don't remember. Either way, it'd only be 7 in an SNES title, as even Forte couldn't shoot straight down

they could very well go back to X1. if they took away megaman's charge shot and slide, who's to say they wont do the same or similar with X?
eg- take away his dash and air dash, and probably lower his charge shot's strength. and make you get the dash from an armor.

How much of a change would that really be, though? X couldn't air dash without the armor until.. What.. X8? The thing about the charge shot and the slide in Classic Series is that they're only as useful as they're designed for. I mean yeah, sometimes in the older game, mainly Quick Man's level, I got "man, a slide would be nice", but its not really necessary. If you never give it a reason, whats the point?

Also, I just remembered the game I'm playing, Rockman & Forte: Challenger from the Future for the wonderswan is 8bit and Forte can still shoot in 7 directions. So suck on that, whoever said Axl couldn't do it in 16-bit.

X7, actually. and thats the one addition to his default moves that I didnt quite approve of. it makes getting leg upgrades pointless.

Helmet: Draws in items and increase items recovery by 25%;
Chest: Bubble Blast, when you get hit by an enemy, you return the damage and push back nearby enemies;
Boots: Improved mobility underwater; Hydro Jump(not done);
