Judging by how a certain topic has gone, I felt this would be a good one to make. Have you ever played a game, and had a genuine emotional reaction? Cheered happily, cried, gotten angry, anything? If so, post your stories here!

Here's a good one of mine. When I was 10, I was playing Final Fantasy II on my trusty Super Nintendo. Yes, I know it's actually FF4, but that's besides the point. Anyways, I was at the Tower of Zot, and then Tellah sacrificed himself by casting Meteo to stop Golbez. I seriously cried. It was sad.

In a related story, upon playing FF4 DS I cried at the same scene (the voice acting made it all the more emotional) and also Palom and Porom's sacrifice after beating Cagnazzo.

Anyone else have moments like this? Remember, any emotion is acceptable in this thread!

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Oh I know one.

Dragon Quest VIII. Prince Charmless. RAGE!

Incidentally, this makes the ending oh so fulfilling! especially the true ending one.

Proud member of Indigo tribe!

Mirby

Well I never got that. Don't spoil it for me. :P

But yeah, Charmless was RAGE! All that work, down the drain. Greedy [tornado fang]er.

Sub Tank

In Lunar 2:Eternal Blue, when you find out that everyone from the last game died, including Luna because she gave up her immortality to be with Alex.  :,(

Quickman

I know that because I didn't have one of those fancy Dreamcast memory cards with the screen and thus couldn't see the cards in Sonic Shuffle, that I ended up telling Sonic off in very colourful ways.

Bueno Excelente

Too many to count in sadness.

- Link's Awakening. "I wish I was a seagull, so I could fly far away and see distant lands..." And then much later, when the dream stops being real and the island dissapears, you see a seagull in the distance.

- Panzer Dragoon Orta. The legendary Dragon finally comes to an end of his journey. The screen goes black and you just hear "Please, open your eyes... please?"

- Halo 3. Saving Cortana, after hearing her cries inside your mind through the whole game. "You found me... but so much of me is wrong."

- MGS3 and MGS4. Big Boss. "This is good... isn't it?"

- The Darkness. Jenny's scene. Just... all the scenes she's in. God dammit, Paulie. Forcing me to watch.

There are too damn many to talk about, but that Jenny part... DAMN. The game was really good in showing those moments. Anyone played it?

Acid

I think... the ending of Terranigma got me.

Pokemon Silver: Trekking through Mt. Silver and making it to the top to see a trainer, not knowing who it was. I chat with him only to get ellipses, then the battle screen scrolls in "Pokemon Trainer Red wants to battle" was there on screen. I was a mixture of FUUUUUUUUUU, Penny Arcade Metroid Other M reaction face.jpg, and thinking "sheeeit my team is under leveled" all at the same time. XD

Twilight Princess.  Seriously, no Midna again?  Ever?!

This actually made me sad. Very sad.

It's like the game try to make you hate her as much as you can. (And I did)
Then sometime later you just already like her. And the game made it seemlessly.
I don't even know when I start to like her, but now I like her.

And then the last part...

But that's why Twilight Princess is memorable to me.
There's a relationship between character that I actually feel it.

Satoryu

I can't say a game has ever made me cry. But there have been countless times where a part of a game is so frustrating I am calling it many many bad words. The most recent one of memory is doing Mr. Perfect in Mega Man 10.

I share this sentiment. Hell, the whole game in general just makes me feel happy.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

What he said.

Closest thing to make me cry in a videogame would be Mother 3. Seriously, if you didn't feel anything at any moment then you have no soul.

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Sadness:
I think there are sadder games out there, but the recent game I´ve played that made me sad was Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.
In other Metrodivanias you can reach a good ending and everything is okay. But here even the good ending has a bitter taste.Shanoa lost her memories, emotions and she got betrayed.  Even though Shanoa has defeated Dracula it was at the cost of her father figure (though Barlowe was a douche who treated her like a tool) and brother Albus (did I mention SHE killed them?).  And even after his death Albus still saves her life...Oh and Shanoa´s memories didn´t return in the end.

Mother 3
This game is sad...really sad...I can´t even talk about it how sad.

Kingdom Hearts: Chain of memories
Poor Repliku

Every Call of Duty game : War is sad

Angry
Devil May cry 3: Arkham .
Seriously, this guy pisses me off. And his constant darkness speeches would even annoy a Kingdom Hearts villain (Vergil was annoyed). Did I mention he sacrificed his wife so he would become demonic powers and that he tried to kill his own dauther? Or that he dresses like a killer clown and attacks you with giant balls? Well he got what he deserved in the end

Mirby

Yeah, Mother 3 was sad. And I think I was on the verge of tears at the end of OoE.

Only when playing with friends.  Otherwise, never.

Hmmm, well maybe not, if you count how I refused to play X7 because the main character of his own series has to be unlocked or save data'd.  Otherwise, never.

I'LL ALLOW IT! /millslane

And didn't you mention Zone of the Enders in that other topic?

I thought that was awesome.  But I think lots of things in games are awesome.  However, I don't view things being awesome as a true emotional response, as specified by the criteria you mentioned.  The only emotional responses I get from games are when I play my friends in games.

Solar

Yeah, multiplayer games sure are great at that XD

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

It's not just limited to Video Games either.  I mean, YuGiOh is great for playing with friends, and so is the best board game ever, Sorry!, the game of Sweet Revenge!

Blackhook

Well, YuGiOh sure is fun...especialy on motorcycles

Dexter Dexter

Umm... let's see... I don't recall being emotionally affected by a video game, nor do I think such a thing has happened. Call me non-human or whatever, but somehow I see emotion and gaming as separate worlds.
