That's not the twist of the story, at all. It's clear from the intro story that Rock does not recognize the black Rockman. He is never thought to be Quint.

And that's really odd since he looks very much like Quint!

Maybe Quint didn't make much of an impression and Rock just forgot about him.  

It's also wierd that Rock comments that Shadow looks like him.  With the costume differences and a visor covering half of his face how can he make this claim?

I think the idea is that Quint doesn't have an all black armor and that Quint wouldn't go around with a new identity.

Rock has plenty experience with slightly different visored lookalikes. One turned out to be his prototype of sorts, the other his future self. So, the question running through his mind is "who is this third one?"

People have there own like and hate against something.

I wouldn't exactly trust that translation that far, rather.

If a certain fan translation of the SFC Rockman & Forte database is correct, it seems that his dislike is "Time Paradoxes". Which might explain why he left at the end of his battle, really (not that the game made any effort to explain it ).

When a MM game gets outsourced to a different company, you can't really expect it to be magnificently executed, as said company most likely doesn't care about the franchise as much as Inafking does.

Edit: Unless, of course, you get the company that did the Game Boy/World MMs 1, 3, 4 and 5.

Well, that's the nature of the classic series story in general. But that's why we have the likes of manga artists to delve deeper into these unexplored areas of the story.

Which reminds me, WilyII mentioned a manga with Quint in it on the other page... do we have any more info about this?
