Airman, now complete?

Posted on: February 20, 2009, 09:52:57 PM
Pretty sure I haven't touched this thread in days...

- Rock (DASH)

- Roll (DASH)

- Airman (Classic RM)

- Heatman A (Classic RM)

- Heatman B (Classic RM)

- Mario (Super Mario Bros)

- Luigi (Super Mario Bros)

- Peach/Toadstool (Super Mario Bros)

- Bowser/Koopa (Super Mario Bros)

- Toad (Super Mario Bros)

- Gaia (Origional Character)

I used Character Raiser 1999 to make all of these.

Posted on: February 26, 2009, 02:18:33 AM

After a few days, it looks like I found my fav. program for certain styles, Character Raiser 1999.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

I wonder why I'm the only one commenting here...

You have a unique style for the Mario and Rockman DASH characters.
They could easily fit in some kind of crossover game or series. Cute Peach is cute~ ^^

I like how Airman turned out. The shading matches the Sonic one next to him. ^^

Character Raiser looks like a interesting tool to use. o.o

Will you work on the rest of the Axem Rangers (Mario RPG series) soon?

Of course, it IS an intresting program to use, it's been used by Ahuron/Abysswolf himself (He did not make the program tho, I'm no fanboy 'tho, I just wanted to try it out)!

Yep, it's something more advanced being made with the program, it had to go through some changes. And someone asked me the same thing about the rest of the Axems, I would give it time, though, to improve in the stlye, I just may edit Red to the rest of the Axems all together!

Horray for minisheets, I might add more poses to my others in this collection...

Posted on: February 28, 2009, 09:53:10 PM

Mini template! You can make your own.  ^^

Rules first:

- As displayed, Furry heads may be a little bigger than human heads, so be careful about that.

- 16 color limit, as displayed in most of my sprites.

- Must be no bigger than 34x34, unless there's characters like Soma Cruz's Devil Form. By then it's 100x100 for the big guys.

- For short characters, please use this size grid (the template) for a reference.

- Colors are complimentary, you can create your own pallete. Do not break the 16 color limit rule though.

- If you do break the 16 color rule, there is always 32-bit style.

And enjoy.

A Super Mario generalized mini sheet, yeah, it's missin' a few enemies, but that'll be on the latter.

Posted on: March 01, 2009, 10:46:31 PM

Since Rock has a more expendable sheet, here's his, plus a few refractors, his health bar and shield, his energy blocks, his weapons (only two, yet to make more), and his dash effect and example.

The numbers under the refreactors and energy blocks are the values that give him Zenny, or health. Refractors give him Zenny, whilist Energy Blocks restore his health.

Animation dump to further test the style. I also apologize for the large size.

Posted on: April 01, 2009, 03:31:15

I pre-selected it's colors in paint, copied it, opened Character Raiser 1999, grabbed a color reference, continually shaded it/gave it some details, pasted it back on paint, and I copied the left side's arm, then flipped said arm.

This is the end result, a random mecha I made using the combined powers of MS Paint and Character Raiser 1999.

"Now, we are going to see something completely diffrent" -Anoynimous

These are for the "Six Monsters" project, I am going to use the Darkwing Duck idea (the sprites exist in the
Mechanical Maniacs' sprite section under Nuts and Bolts).

It seems that too many people seem to create too many fangames of the Blue Bomber, not making any games
in his honor (even though he's COMPLETELY fictional and copyrighted).

For the "games in his honor" part, they try to make use of the Mega Man 5 engine with a whole diffrent plot and cast
(Darkwing Duck for example, again), while others try to make use of his design and change it around a bit in gameplay
design, but either fail misrably (Thunder Blast Man), or a sucess (A certain fighter that features characters similar to
the main Rockman series).

But only I either get the coding or become skilled at it, this will keep me occupied for a bit thinking about thier moves
and the other set's appearances.

Mex

Weapon: MeLazer

Discription: If you remember Astro Boy, then this is what this guy's based off of, even the finger lazer
and the flying boots to boot! He's a monster that once worked with other monsters in a gang that
caused trouble and even STOLE the Hachiko statue, has finally lost it and completely turned on humanity.
Crazy? I think this explains that this rouge theif has his own world.

Rubbo

Weapon: Blabber Bullet

Description: This guy actually lives with his namesake; he's made out of rubber, litterally. It's kinda gross
to see him pull out part of his gut, and regrow it. A creature made from a crazed experiment, this blob
was the result of an experiment by combining the properties of a rubber band and a peice of
a regeneraiting part off of a starfish. Gross.

(No Image)

Tyro

Weapon: Unconfirmed, Crest Beam

Description: Made from a mad Giant Robot Anime fanboy, this guy is not fun to be with, he's decimated
mulitple cities and wasted several towns, he has the most unusual fuel, a lemon encased in a weird
looking head that resembles a certain Super Robot. Cold and mysterious, he currently terrorizes a
small town.

Two sheets and a bio of each, which gives a slight idea for Tyro's moveset.

A little question, did you like my Memory Robo V idea? I was going to push from space and earth, but the waves of a human being. Tiny molecules begin to appear and eat everyone's memories, making them forget, so a certain scientist builds a giant robot to counter the menace, and beams them into the human wavelenghts to combat the memory-erasing evil. This may sound like Ultraman Tiga, but it actually takes place in the human brain.

That's when I drew those two, the one with the mullet's actually the pilot.

I was tired of MIDI making anyway (Made few, but all sound alike), this is a much easier process, which is also a test.

A Megaman RPG sprite sheet with PROPER graphics and equipment.

Posted on: April 27, 2009, 01:04:55 AM
Fellow members, I bring art:

- Close Call

- Shinko's colors.

Posted on: April 27, 2009, 01:32:18 AM

Meet Protoman, unlike everyone else who has auras, he can equip shields. His also has special weapons that nobody else has that's exclusive to him.

But he shares the other equipment (Flamethrower, Spreaderer).

Posted on: April 27, 2009, 03:40:18 AM

Bass, I see him as a boss rather more than a player character, which is frequent in most Megaman-based RPGs.

He shares the same role as his Battle Network counterpart; to serve as a subplot character, to earn him as a summon. He will use his rapid fire weapon and "Gospel Crush" move having a high damage percentage.

Any particular reason why you decided on selective outlining for something with NES color limits?

Gaia

Good reason, I have an answer.

- In most NES games, the sword was nothing but an outline, play Ninja Gaiden NES.

- Selective Outlining is a spriter's tool and it shows as the parts won't blend in. Ninja Turtles NES is another good example.

- I keep the part seprate from the body is so I can do the sword attacking animation if I want to.

- I had to dumb down on the pallete to Black-Pink-Peach because the origional went overboard.

In general you shouldn't break black outlines, especially when you don't have the shades to make it look proper. Early NES games either took advantage of black backgrounds, or paid specific mind never to make (light) backgrounds that blend with the sprite. They also made use of smaller sprites and a clear primary color.

Especially with such a large shape, it would work ten times better if you took the effort to include proper outlines. Also, selectively outlined sprite do not belong on a white background.
