Because I am sure there are tunes we all love and enjoy even after years of gaming. If you have some favorites you can share them with others in here.
Or just talk about VG music in general. I'm sure we all can profit from this, many ears hear a lot more and maybe you remember tracks you buried deep within your head.
Let me start by giving you some real nostalgia gems which I hold dear even today:
FF: Mystic Quest - Boss Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJ0KilHkxFk)
FF: Mystic Quest - Final Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VT3B1GfaHdM)
My absolute favorite VG tracks are Stickerbrush Symphony (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=mFb3iZr3vrI) (Donkey Kong Country 2) and the Mega Man 3 Intro (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=TiQgYfyUdDs). :D
Honorable mention: Theme of Laura (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=qKPOGJvhAII) (Silent Hill 2)

and the Mega Man 3 Intro (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=TiQgYfyUdDs). :D
You sir, have absolutely great taste and my opinion about you just went skyrocket.
SNES F-Zero - White Land 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRuHFouBRVw&feature=related)
SNES F-Zero - White Land 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIR7bPcQRdg)
It's funny how the track from Brawl just got my right back into the SNES F-Zero soundtrack. I was completely ashamed of myself for not having it downloaded yet, which I promptly did after my reminder of how [tornado fang]ing much I love the SNES F-Zero soundtrack.
SSBB - SNES F-Zero White Land (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94u24yjiWaM)
Just because I love the Brawl Remix of this song so damn much. It's easily one of my favorite songs to Brawl too, and also to drive to as well. Oh, I think I got the car up to about 80-85 MPH while playing this one time. I couldn't go past 88MPH, for obvious reasons!
More to come...

Then please please watch this, if you already haven't! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIed0kUh57w)
Wow, that was an instant YT fav, PB. Thanks! 8)
And speaking of instant YT favs (that are also VG tracks), this (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=uRv8gnBMiWM) is my favorite YouTube video of 2008.
GONG: Final Boss Remix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SnATgJEPHM)
I enjoyed how Banpresto managed to perfectly remake a song that was performed by JAM Project, the theme of this game. As well as other mixes to various songs for each character in the game.
Final Fantasy IX has one of the best bossthemes in the series. If not one of the best bossthemes ever. If this doesn't sound like HUGE BOSS COMING AROUND then nothing does. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2nF6qt49dE)

Getting back to F-Zero for a moment...
SNES F-Zero - Port Town (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZlhvIpIk_w)
I would love to hire the composer/composers who did the three remixes for Brawl from the SNES F-Zero, and have them do the entire soundtrack. Especially this song, as I've always loved it.
SNES F-Zero - Fire Field (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gRPJqCP-13Y&feature=related)
I mean, they took an already [tornado fang]ing awesome song and made this Remix on the Brawl soundtrack:
SSBB - F-Zero Fire Field (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5YNQZuv4bI)
I simply love the opening guitar on this song.
Also, another quick one from F-Zero:
SNES F-Zero - Silence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJCmbipfnyA)
This was another kick ass track, and I found this really kick ass remix of it on YouTube.
So 80's version of Silence! XD (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Las4BCmsRU&feature=related)
Sonic 3D Blast Genesis version: Panic Puppet Zone 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqFuwhdRtmo&feature=channel_page)
and, i know technically this doesnt count as the game was never released, but its STILL a VGM.
Space Queen's stage BGM. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H8-ZZPq3ig&feature=related) from Sonic Xtreme.

I'll agree. I've never played the game, and I'll definitely say that that's bonafide bad-ass boss music.
As of right now, this is probably still my favorite Boss Music ever. 8D (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W0r18H9DEI)
This is RIGHT [tornado fang]ing up there as well. 8) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjMuOiWFi7E)

I've been a VG Music collector in the recent years. Falcom is genius in that department. With the games like Ys Series, Sora no Kiseki/Legend of Heroes, Xanadu & a lot more. I also got in love with Wild Arms Music.
Gunmetal Action (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZPFjJfwLA0) - My ultimate favorite. I really doubt if there's something out there that can dethrone it in my top list. It's like a complete story which have a Exposition, Rising Action, Climax which I 0v0 so much, so as the Falling Action & finally the very outstanding Resolution.
Added w/ Leave it to me (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af_XSjE47YA&feature=related), both of it serves as a complete satisfaction in my listening pleasure.

Video game music is the best kind of music because of it's diversity. Admit it. There isn't a set guideline and there aren't guaranteed results. Something might be done one way that couldn't be done in another genre. This thread is a good idea by the way because it'll allow me to gush over some of my favorite little tunes and memorable melodies.
Also since we'll more than likely mention some composers in here, Koji Kondo, Jun Senoue & Hideki Naganuma are gods of the field imo.
Here's some random favorites as I pull them from my head in no particular order (mostly Nintendo of course 8D):

SNES Star Fox - Corneria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIP0TxIb8zg&feature=related)
How do I put this....it's simply one of the best Video Game songs EVER. This is one of those treasured moments of my childhood: the one when I play this game for the first time and kick some ass to this awesome piece of music. You can imagine my utmost disappointment when Star Fox 64's Corneria level did NOT have this song in it. Granted, I'll never be one to say that SF SNES is a better game than SF 64, cause it's not. SF 64 is a better game all around, but SF SNES has the music better soundtrack, in my honest opinion. I'm not even saying the SF 64's soundtrack is bad either. I enjoy it a lot. But still, and this isn't nostalgia talking, I think SF SNES's soundtrack is vastly superior. I was so very happy when Brawl remixed some of my favorite SNES SF songs.
SNES Star Fox - Space Armada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSiot2xxoYo&feature=related)
Which was Remixed into this:
SSBB - Star Fox SNES Space Armada (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80Cp3mQoYEg&feature=related)
They also remixed the Corneria song I posted into this as well:
SSBB - Star Fox SNES Corneria (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXc2vUQKWCQ&feature=related)
Which made me all kinda happy! Ironically enough, they also chose the EXACT SF 64 songs that I wanted Remixed as well too.
Star Fox 64 - Star Wolf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWZ8jEZd5uI&feature=related) & Star Fox 64 - Area 6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sVtZmt-_kc&feature=related) both got remixed into these tracks:
SSBB - Star Fox 64 Star Wolf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GI6vIfxkEYM&feature=related) & SSBB - Star Fox 64 Area 6 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eucORXzzgLs&feature=related)
One last thing to mention. If you don't say "CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT, STAR FOX!" every time you hear the Star Wolf theme, then I don't know what's wrong with you! 8D
More to come...
Not so fast Blues! You've activated my trap card!

Now then, RPM might not know this, but PB & I have been going back and forth over which of the two (true) Star Fox games had the better soundtrack. PB is of the mindset that Star Fox on the SNES had the greater soundtrack. With its unique, upbeat and catchy chiptune style there's no doubt in my mind that it's of another class entirely when talking about VG music. The sounds and music of Star Fox 64 to which I am more accustomed to however, decided to go for a more dramatic and often times militarist approach. So which one works best? SNES or 64? Hajime Hirasawa's compositions or Koji Kondo's? Well, I'll leave it to you all to decide.
Some choice recommendations from the soundtrack from me include:
Star Fox 64 - Aquas (Amazing, amazing work.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWcDpvf57fA&feature=related)
Star Fox 64 - Area 6 (Absolute Classic.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dIETrKo0Ao&feature=related)
Star Fox 64 - Boss Battle B (If this doesn't scream big [tornado fang]ing boss ahead, you're listening to it wrong.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLdeWCLb2i4&feature=related)
Star Fox 64 - Credits (If you don't feel a sense of accomplishment listening to this, you missed out!) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpeTnDCvsNI)
Star Fox 64 - Destinations (Nice way to set the mood for traveling through space.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJW1FswdT9Y)
Star Fox 64 - Katina (To this day, I still consider this an amazing song. The opening from :00 to :07 is brilliant.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bACFhIYrA6c&feature=related)
Star Fox 64 - Sector X (Ominous and foreboding. Very atmospheric.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bFojDENj4Q)
Star Fox 64 - Star Wolf's Theme (How the [tornado fang] could I make a SF64 choice list without this one? CAN'T LET YOU DO THAT STARFOX!) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5ZBu3nHJkM&feature=related)
Star Fox 64 - Title Theme (Something about it after the initial fanfare reminds me of a Toonami ad spot, "Space is The Place".) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Z99Xi4ES2Y)
Star Fox 64 - Warp Zone (Perfect "I can see forever!" music imo. Considering the warps were trippy, this works well. XD) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hlco24RbNAw)
Also, be sure to check the comments on the side of these videos, they give a nice little history lesson on the makings of the Star Fox series.
Also, I gotta say the Brawl mix of the SF64 Star Wolf theme is one of the best musical moments in video games for me this year.
EDIT - Oh dammit all, I forgot my second favorite song from SF64, Zoness (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtUx72O6xpc). XD

Star Fox 64 - Boss Battle B (If this doesn't scream big [tornado fang]ing boss ahead, you're listening to it wrong.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLdeWCLb2i4&feature=related)
Now, here's a perfect reason of why I also say that the SNES Star Fox is superior: The Boss Music. I do agree with Jelly here that Boss B from SF 64 is awesome, and so are Boss A & C as well...but that's it. Whereas SNES Star Fox pretty much offered a Boss Theme for almost every level, with a few repeats. Allow me to share them with you!
Star Fox SNES - Corneria Boss Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji8KNeRN2N8&feature=related)
Here we have the first boss of the game, with it's downright ominous opening and kick ass guitar riffs and drum beats. Easily one of the best Boss Theme's ever.
Star Fox SNES - Asteroid, Space Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdrJCheLRcg&feature=related)
Not much, mind you, but fits the boss fight perfectly. Also, with it's already awesome drums and violins and horns, it makes for an excellent boss theme!
Star Fox SNES - Space Armada Core Battle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4rrfxAPhIY&feature=related)
Again, not much to this one, but you're simply destroying the core of a huge battleship to which you've flown straight into like the badass Arwing Pilot you are. While flying in, you also are treated to this:
Star Fox SNES - Title Demonstration (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvJn__Wpxn0)
I don't even need to go into what a great lead in this is, because they use this track to lead into the Main Title of the game, showing Andross' forces heading for Corneria! Again, bad-assery at it's finest!
Star Fox SNES - Macbeth Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zfuIDkOJfQ&feature=related)
Here's where we get into a few Boss Tracks which so perfectly fit the boss that you're fighting. Our awesome spinning top enemy on Macbeth deserved a kick ass theme to go with it, which fit it so well.
Star Fox SNES - Fortuna Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wr40B_1Xn0&feature=related)
One of my favorite Boss Fights, because you're fighting a giant Two-Headed Dragon named Monarch Dodora, a CLEAR homage to King Ghidorah from Godzilla fame. This song did him mucho justice-o!
Star Fox SNES - Titania Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjMuOiWFi7E&feature=related)
BYE-BYE! LoL, I can't say how well this theme fit the boss, but that doesn't matter as it's easily one of the best Boss Themes EVER in VG History. The kick ass guitar work on the intro is too awesome, and it only gets better from there!
Star Fox SNES - Venom Boss 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjMuOiWFi7E&feature=related)
It re-uses the main drums of the Asteroid Battle, but with the epic-y opening leading into said drums, not to mention the chip tunish kick-assity added to the drums make this track awesome.
Star Fox SNES - Venom Boss 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thd1eDyNaZQ&feature=related)
LoL, only change here is the opening. Move along! XD
Star Fox SNES - Andross Boss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aOS_AklEZ4&feature=related)
I love the eerie sound as Andross forms his all too famous, eye shootin', wall spittin' face, and then it goes into the main battle track. Now this track, I can go back and forth between which I like better: The SNES or 64 version, cause both fit Andross extremely well.
I could also go into just how awesome each individual Planet Theme is as well. Perhaps I will later!
...
Well damn. I don't have anything planned to counter this one... YET. Good going PB. XD

This post wins.

Well damn. I don't have anything planned to counter this one... YET. Good going PB. XD
Oh, I know what I'm talking about! Let's continue, shall we. 8)
Star Fox SNES - Main Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eEU_siFiS8Q&feature=related)
Now, one thing I love about this entire soundtrack, much like a REALLY well done Bond soundtrack, is how just about every track is unique yet still connects with the overall main theme of the game. This is the Main Theme, played at the end of the game!
Star Fox SNES - Asteroid Field, Venom Orbital (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOudLg6h8oU)
Here we have the Asteroid, Venom Orbital. If you've ever seen vids of someone playing Star Fox SNES, or played it yourself as you ALL should have, this track is absolutely perfect for both the Asteroid Field & the Venom Orbital approach. It keeps the main Star Fox theme, and adds an opening and intensely suspenseful track all on it's own.
Star Fox SNES - Macbeth (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKMCbix3hCA&feature=related)
Here we have another great example of the track fitting it's level perfectly. Again, it keeps the Main Theme in the game slightly, but completely adds to the atmosphere of flying through the core of a planet, where Andross might set up a base. That FIEND!
Star Fox SNES - Fortuna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDr6FMGwpFM&feature=related)
Now here, we have a lush green world with randomly growing vegetation, as well as an oceanic part to go with it. Fortuna takes you across a few different types of atmosphere, which this track completely compliments, along with adding in the Main Theme in an eerie and downright sexy way!
Star Fox SNES - Titania (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzlN6UO4gDM&feature=related)
Another track to fit it's level perfectly, as it gives up an Arctic type feel to it with it's chip-tuneness, it's awesome background guitar at types, and it's frosty use of the Main Theme.
Star Fox SNES - Meteor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjyjteX8Udk&feature=related)
Time to skim along the surface of a Meteor to this track. Once again, fantastic use of the Main Theme, as well as a great track to signify still being in Space. One of my personal favorites.
Star Fox SNES - Sector X & Sector Z (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj0-CkV5PNE&feature=related)
An Epic Track for Sector's X & Z, still using the Main Theme uniquely and quite frankly, kick-assily as well! XD
Star Fox SNES - Venom 1 & 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jz9iXZFsvFY&feature=related)
All you Melee fans should definitely recognize the opening of this track, as it was used on Corneria in that game. Short, Simple, but still awesome use of the Main Theme at the end.
Star Fox SNES - Venom 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRcmAnht3QM&feature=related)
Another Venom track here, which doesn't quite have all of the Main Theme in it, but makes itself different and yet similar to the sound of Venom. Again, another fantastic track here.
So as I mentioned, like a really good Bond soundtrack, the SNES Star Fox soundtrack manages to so awesomely incorporate it's Main Theme into just about every one of their songs. This is yet another reason I think, as a soundtrack, it's overall better. Now, I leave you with the TWO Course Clear Themes, to signal my Victory! 8D
Star Fox SNES - Course Clear (Band Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idytIA-Vi0c&feature=related)
Star Fox SNES - Course Clear (Orchestra Version) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20-f4QMkhtQ&feature=related)
You just had to go and murder my counterattack with detailed reasons why each track was great in your opinion. I guess me being lazy with my post didn't help much. XD
Ah well, in the end it's up to RPM to decide which one has the better soundtrack. I love SF (SNES) but SF64 is where it's at for me. We now return you to your regularly scheduled video game music discussion topic. XD
I think Starfox has the best bosstheme of the entire series, I mean the SNES Starfox.
And maybe you were able to notice by now, but I mainly look out for battle/bosstunes.
I'm the same way with a lot of games. Most often though, in-stage music seems to just click with me. I usually wind up humming along whenever something I like comes up.

Chrono Cross music deserves more love. Overall the game may be more inferior than Chrono Trigger (in most people's opinions, including my own), but the music was beautiful.

Actually, after showing so much Metroid Prime love, I'd love to hear some opinions on what Prime game had the best music in your opinions.
Corruption is probably the most underappreciated game on the Wii.
Best music's still at Prime 1, though. :D
Also, kudos on Click Clock Wood. Summer is my favorite, as I'm a sucker for cheesy videogame waltz (see Super Mario Bros. underwater theme (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=qGzbOjmkBUc) and the masterpiece that is Super Mario Galaxy's Observatory mk-III (http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=DbyqMdRS09w)).

My VG Music list would be entirely too insanely long to be practical. However, I feel the need to post a tune I recorded, lost in a previous reformat, and finally went hunting for today. And I'm quite ashamed of all of you that in three pages nobody beat me to it. :P
Yoshi's Story ending (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaSg-4nZTbk), a.k.a. the most insanely cute piece of VG music ever.
Yoshi's Island - Flower Garden (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=wJ_hUgYKiv0&feature=related)
I love humming along to that one. Had someone join in with me in the past... was fun :P
Oh, and one other thing. It's almost a year old, but I didn't track it down until a few weeks ago:
a kickass Toxic Seahorse (http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/122215) remix on Newgrounds.
Now THAT is how the PS1 tracks should have done it. 8)
Now I know some of you don't like Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (for reasons I quite frankly don't understand, to be honest) but I'm sure some of you will agree that Bowser's Battle theme kicks ass. (http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jVFyEW4Drt8)
Fxeni, you know for a fact that I love that song. I even linked to it before in my long post of VG musics. XD
It's tied with Bowser's Rage from Paper Mario 1 and Final Bowser in Super Mario 64 for best Bowser theme ever.
Speaking of Bowser, this thread needs more. (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=0rygsWPCjNQ)
Don't forget Giant Baby Bowser - Yoshi's Island (http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=9kZWW2bzoVk)

Jeez, I did not see this topic earlier.
I absolutely like VG music for being so diverse. There are many soundtracks which I enjoy to hear, but some of them which popped up in my head just now are:
Secret of Evermore: This game would not have been as memorable for me without it's atmosphere music.
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes: All 3 Prime games have some very good songs, but I gotta pick Echoes because it had the best music for me. Especially Torvus Bog. That is one of the few songs where I imagined just thinking about how great it would be to walk around such an area in real life.
Killer 7/: This being my 2nd favorite singleplayer game, Killer 7 has one hell of an interesting wacko soundtrack. Russian Roulette, Blackburn, Sweet Relief, Tecks Mecks and Dissociative Identity are some of the best.
Blaster Master:: I get goose bumps when I hear that 1st stage music playing. What a classic game.
I also love the many obvious favorite soundtracks to Castlevania and Mega Man.
These were just the tip of the iceberg regarding VG soundtracks which I enjoy to hear.
I love the musics from Mamoru Has Been Cursed! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR16AQd8UQk&feature=channel_page) Warm, energetic & lot's of variety. Plus there's a Rockman vibe in it. 8D
Castlevania remix. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-VViU_oXGo)
After hearing this theme, I must play this game:
Gunstar Heroes-Seven Force (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1BIbHg84mA)
And now for music from one of my favorite brawlers from my youth, Spiderman & Venom: Maximum Carnage!
Theme of the Super Villains (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVqvlH1SDjg&feature=related) (which sounds identical to Black Sabbath song "The Mob Rules" XD)

Just a thought I had after reading some of the comments in my always fun Dear SEGA thread. Not just a thought, but a question, being What do Soundtracks do for you?
For those who don't know, soundtracks are actually my favorite genre of music. For Protoman Blues, soundtracks have the wonderful ability to take him back in time, to fond memories of past gaming throughout his entire life. That's what a good soundtrack does, IMO. This goes for not only game soundtracks, but movie soundtracks as well. I've always felt that soundtracks are just such an instrumental part in the field of entertainment. I mean, when you get right down to it, the Super Mario Bros. theme is easily one of the most famous songs ever, in the history of mankind. It's just as well known as a classic Mozart piece. Hell, one article I read had an interesting take that if Beethoven were still alive today, he'd be writing game music.
However, this is just my take on soundtracks. I'm curious to hear if anyone else feels the same way I do.
Soundtracks are a much bigger part of the game/movie I'm playing/watching than most would figure. For me, the soundtrack is one of those things that get me involved in the media, moreso than visuals in the case of games. Even if the visuals aren't so nice and pretty, if the music can get my mind on track, who cares what it looks like. The music builds emotion, whether it's prepping us for an important scene (FF7 Aeris death for example) or revving us up to kick some ass (MM2 Wily Castle 1, I'm looking squarely at you).
TL;DR version: music is more important than visuals to me.
Seriously, guys~

Super Mario World music remixes (http://www.archive.org/details/xoc_SMW)
OK, since PB wanted to know about it after I went and DZ threatened me to take videos, I'll quickly mention it here. Last night I went to the first Final Fantasy concert of '09 in downtown Minneapolis. Nobuo Uematsu himself was in attendance and even did his best to joke around when he was on stage. The Distant Worlds tour is only going to be in 9 cities around the world this year and I was so excited to attend!
I only had my crappy cell phone camera with me, so I didn't get the best pics in the world. Especially with little lighting in the place and me being up in the balcony. But thanks to the wonders of other nerds who snuck a recording device in, you can experience some of what I did last night through the wonders of Youtube! View them while they're still up, even if the quality isn't all super:
Program Opening - FF8's Liberi Fatale (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tlwZgYXfHY)
Finale - FF6's Terra's Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZR6OKy4YhH8)
Short snippet in which we voted on what song should be added to future concerts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfPNh74xbrk&feature=channel_page)
Encore - FF7's One Winged Angel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8snmyIHJg9U)
I really need to figure out how to rip them from there to save them for posterity's sake... -u-'
Those are the only ones I've been able to find so far. Perhaps more will pop up. But it was a very memorable concert. You can read my ramblings from at like 3am last night on my dA journal (http://rockmiyabi.deviantart.com/journal/).

Why'd the crowd cheer for One Winged Angel? Must be the coordination. Which row were you again?
Thanx for the info and insight Miyabi. From your DA journal, it sounds like you had a great time (not to mention that awesome drawing). Yeah, call me a classical Broadway Show goer, but I always like to get dressed up for a show, I.E. Nice shirt, Nice Pants, Blazer. Either way, looks awesome. If the VGConcert thingy ever comes back to NYC, I must be sure to go.
I sat where this ticket said, and then snuck down about 15 rows. The pics I took from my original seat did not turn out, so the ones you can see here give you a better idea of how far up I still was. Originally, there were maybe 10 rows of seats behind us. And this place we moved to wasn't even halfway up the balcony. The theater is sectioned in three tiers/floors, but the balcony comprises both of the upper two. Essentially we snuck down from the third floor to the second.

Because seriously, it's not a Final Fantasy concert without One Winged Angel. :P Yeah, I still prefer the Advent Children version, but as I said in my journal, I thought the choir handled it pretty well, being just the choir from one of the local colleges. I guess they like to try to bring local people in for various parts of the program. So the choir, and any other vocal pieces are done by people who don't tour with the orchestra from my understanding. Also the guitarist who handled pieces of Vamo 'alla Flamenco was a local guest artist, too.
I was on the first 2 Play! concerts (http://www.play-symphony.com/) in Sweden, 2006 and 2007.
I got autographs and personal chat with Arnie Roth, Nobuo Uematsu and Akira Yamaoka.
It was lovely. ^^ I enjoyed those concerts, but now the ticket prices are more and more expensive...

Punch Out Wii - Minor Circuit Fight Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KmocGW5x_0&feature=related)

Punch Out Wii - Major Circuit Fight Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0V6Q-YLuN0&feature=related)
The opening of this track is simply bad-[tornado fang]ing-ass. I'm such a fan of this take on it.
Punch Out Wii - World Circuit Fight Theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebYp_adEDYk&feature=related)
What's truly great about these different takes on the theme is that I think it fits each circuit so very well.
I really liked the music of POW. Especially the title defense themes.
But still, Super Punch out had the best soundtrack, in my opinion at least. In a quality only the SNES could provide. I miss those unique sounds.
I love the unique soudn that POW gives when you win or lose to a fighter. Soda Popinsky might be my favorite one. Perhaps Don Flamenco's too.

Damn, the Sonic series has some kickass music. Meanwhile, I'm posting here to inform everyone about the Zelda Reorchestrated website (http://www.zreomusic.com/index.php). It's basically a group of dedicated fans who have taken to re-doing quite a bit of the Zelda tunes with awesome orchestra grade sound. It's worth a download and a listen in my opinion. Zero Mission has such an orgasmic soundtrack.
Yeah, I like the Zero Mission soundtrack too. Although, I prefer this, personally:
Along with the Boss theme that has now become Ridley's theme:
Here's a KICKASS theme:
And another one I like a lot:
Do-Don-Pachi Dai-Fukkatsu - Element Daughter (Boss 1) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JG-ko0Ex_oE)
This one is a great arranged and feel so authentic. Give it a try, this is not half-assed.

But the melody is the same as Genesis/Megadrive
Valis IV stage 1 BGM.
I forgot how great this game's soundtrack was
I really, really love this song.
Probably my favorite 2 tracks in all of Star Ocean 3.
Admit it, this was pretty [tornado fang]ing epic for it's day.
I totally forgot this existed from the OST. I personally enjoy it~

The one last great song Michiru Yamane did before she quit the Konami.
And it featured in this obscure Castlevania Pachi-slot game. Which is a real shame....

[tornado fang] I love this song~
The first time when I heard this on original T6 at the arcade, it chilled my spines.
Everyone stared into the screen like the game already sucked their soul.
So epic moment I had with this BGM.
One of my favorite soundtracks, from DKC2. Can't describe in words how great this song is.
Another awesome soundtrack from Castlevania: Curse of Darkness.

Ah.. i love that soundtrack. I get goose bumps everytime i hear it. Metroid Prime was a epic game, it's a shame that i sold it.
Appeals to the metalhead in me.
100 times better than Vampire Killer imo. :)
Well, just to follow a pattern... :)
My favorite from Wild Arms 5.
Eh I preferred Kartikeya's and Persephone's battle themes.
Great track, did not expect it from a Mario game.
That's because lovely Yoko Shimomura did the music for the Mario & Luigi games~ ^.^
I know this. Surprised me, honestly.
Also made the SMRPG soundtrack.
And this track is a neat one, reminds me of the KH battle themes and "Cannon Ball" in a few segments. She's one of my fave artists aside from III. :)
Never did get why the JP version didn't have guitar riffs.
Anyways
I think this is the only remix of this song I've seen (and even then it's considered a "re-orchestration")
Nice.
Also, Yoko Shimomura worked on the Gargoyle's Quest soundtrack too!
She also works on the soundtrack of FF Versus 13

That made the scene from the ending so incredibly satisfying. Great revenge. I just wish it had been slower.
Here's a track from Shenmue 2 that displays the greatest thing about the games. The fact that there was a whole world of locations completely irrelevant to the game's plot or objectives, but that you could still go inside them and do whatever you wanted, talk to people, and pay minimal attention to detail, because there'd be a track just for that one single area ready to greet you.

Someone was discussing GBA games over on another site, so I suddenly found myself listening to this ol' underrated gem
The GBA soundtrack was actually done by David Wise, so you know it's got some good stuff.
Also I never realized how much of a sucker I am for more ambient-ish tracks.
Wait, hold on. The GBA version of DKC3 had a completely different OST?
Despite the fact that the track you posted was awesome, why did they replace the OST?...
Because the GBA's sound system couldn't handle it I guess. Which is odd since they did rearrangements of the original tracks for the first two ports. Though, DKC3's original tracks do seem to maybe be a bit heavier on bass compared to the first two

Typical of most SNES-to-GBA ports; the GBA wasn't made to mimic the SNES's sound processor (which was made by Sony). All Mario Advance games and MM&B got the same treatment. IMHO Mario World got the worst of it; the others were solid.

I do hope Treasure is listening to the PlayStation 3 owners on their poll and they bring this gem to PSN, because everyone -- PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners alike -- deserves to play this game in their lifetime.
I JUST found this.
I remember hearing the demo version before and thinking it was awesome, but not being able to find the full version (because there was none at the time)
Hearing the full version is just amazing though.
I love every version of this song.
This one in particular I like the most.
Complimenting~ <3 ; ω;ó
*thumbs uppu*
I really like this person's work. A lot.
This is related to VGM so I'd like to think it goes here
Time to bring this [parasitic bomb] back!!!
Final Fantasy XIII-2 - Giant Impact. While I don't plan to buy this game until I see it for 10$ (Sazh is DLC scenario? BAD SQUARE, BAD!). This battle theme caught me off guard!
Skyrim - Dragonborn. This makes me imagine Conan the Barbarian fight off an army of giant dragons, teamed w/ He-Man and Lion-O. Badass.
We Are the Rockmen - Armor Armage. While this soundtrack isn't the best of the Rockman arrange albums, there are still some(or a few noteworthy) tracks that do [parasitic bomb] right. Like this.
Oboro Muramasa Ongakushuu Hensou no Maku - Shinzan Yuukoku (or in short, Oboro Muramasa Arranged Album - Deep Mountains, Dark Valleys). The release of the arranged album also caught me off guard, in a 'I want to be raped in the mind hard' way. For those that loved Oboro Muramasa's soundtrack. YOU WILL LOVE THIS ALBUM!!!
Did anyone posted this already?
It's a dude doing a speed-run of Megaman on a concert while a band plays the music for it.
MAGFEST!!
Ahem. Yeah. I have lots of friends who were there.
Also, considering that happened within the past week, I highly doubt anyone has.
Say what you want about Final Fantasy games nowadays, the music is beautiful either way~ :cookie:
One of my guilty secrets as a gamer is that I've played very little Castlevania. Just vague memories of 4, really.
But dammit, I can't get enough of this.
Thank Brental Floss.
Sometimes you cannot beat the classics!
One of the reasons Stage 2 of RayForce is one of favorite stages in the game. Not only this song, but the stage really shows how well Taito pulls off Mode 7 visuals to make the game feel like it's 3D in an entirely 2D sprite-based game.

God I love this song. This game just had an insanely fantastic soundtrack!
Speaking of video game music, look at this!
That kicks ass. Especially since I'm a vinyl record fan. Be cool to own something like that.
Look into the Retro City Rampage soundtrack; you can get it on a (colored) vinyl. It's expensive though; $63 after shipping if you're in the US.
Doesn't sound all that different from the original, does it?
I gotta say, Alan Wake is quite the game~
For a while now I've been listening to mostly Mega Man games music.
So I got around to clearing Jamestown finally. I'm surprised I didn't mention it before on here. Its music is delicious. Fun shmup too.
I'm getting major MM vibes off this one.

yay this thread. forgot about it oh man
So yeah uh I've been playing a lot of Ys lately and once again holy [parasitic bomb] was I missing out.
Ok here goes.
[spoiler=Ys II]For anyone that knows composer names, Yuzo Koshiro did a lot of I & II's soundtrack along with Mieko Ishikawa and Hideya Nagata. The original games were for PC-88, although the PCE/TGFX-CD versions were arranged by Ryo Yonemitsu.
PCE version (I HOPE YOU LIKE GUITARS) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_ujvRZSIlI)
Delicious violin-filled version from PSP remake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8S76rk98uk)
And of course, II's intro theme.
The PSP version is also pretty nice. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5yCftqnQrE)
I could post some stuff from Ys 1.. but I just like II so much more that I can't remember much of anything from it.[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Ys III]
Ys III: Wanderers from Ys had its soundtrack composed mainly by Yuzo Koshiro and Mieko Ishikawa as well, though the latter did the main gist this time. Once again Ryo Yonemitsu does the masterful PCE arranges. The remake,
Oath in Felghana had its re-arranged soundtrack done by Yukihiro Jindo. Some are pretty much upped straight from the old versions with more modern instruments. Others mix it up a bit while still carrying a similar feel. I'm usually 50/50 on which versions I prefer, but it's still a solid job nonetheless. My overall preferred version shall get the embed with the other below. Also I'm only comparing with the PCE version because that's the only one I've given any real extensive listen to.
PCE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJnhYhL2-fM)
Also a note about this one. It's a remix of the main character's theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TgoTm0fXBM) which wasn't used much in I & II, if at all IIRC.
PCE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDyYzXKjc-E)
Oath's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKvJ_pjGmbc)
Aaand the final boss theme. Just, goddamn. Love this one so much. Overall I have to go with PCE. It's more intense. Also, those rattling drums of sort. Those aren't in Oath's version and they just really add a slight punch to the tune. Oath's is pretty damn good for what it is as well, which I'd say is a more grand arrangement.
Oath's (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-_I4tJGJIM)[/spoiler]
[spoiler=Ys IV]Ys IV was outsourced to 2 companies. The result was
Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys by for PCE and
Ys IV: Mask of the Sun for Super Famicom. They had similarities but overall branched in different directions for story and gameplay. Neither is no longer considered canon with the release of Falcom's own
Ys: Foliage Ocean in Celceta for PlayStation Vita last month. Regardless, most consider
Dawn of Ys to be pretty damn good, including its soundtrack composed by Falcom's Sound Team and as always arranged by Ryo Yonemitsu.
Mask of the Sun shared most if not pretty much all of its soundtrack with
Dawn, but they can't really compare in quality. So without further ado.
(I actually haven't played
Dawn of Ys so these are just the ones I've given more than 1 listen to amidst skimming ok)
GUITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR ♥♥♥
Theme of Adol 1993.
Theme of Adol 1993. This song alone makes me want to play this game so bad asdfasdfasdf.[/spoiler]
(~No one cares about Ys V and I haven't played VI yet~)[spoiler=Origin]Since it's a prequel to I & II, it borrows a lot of songs from them, but its original themes are also quite something at times.
Aaand the other two to come to mind to are actually the official "Super Arrange" versions but whatever.
Original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkL0TJqqn4s)
Original (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk9Vz5cpvgI)[/spoiler]

I skipped three games which I had not played at all whatsoever.
I cheated on 10 because it's my favourite overall.
I can't express how needlessly sentimental I get over this series.

I've been making more headway into Trails of Cold Steel and while it's a good OST all around I still need to make emphasis on this [tornado fang]ing dungeon theme like holy [parasitic bomb]. If you like violin then it's worth your while.

Can help but hearing a bit of Love Rollercoaster by the Ohio Players in this track.
It's like this composer gets me and my Genesis childhood. I really want to get this game on Steam.
Just got into this game recently, and this is no doubt the father of Guardian Heroes in terms of gameplay.

God, I wish Vesperia was on a Nintendo platform (and/or the PS3 version had been localized). I don't own a 360, but I love these guys, and Estelle too.

Breis is good [parasitic bomb]. Here's my favorite of his so far:
Forgot to remove the "s" from the https. YouTube link won't work otherwise.
And holy crap, we're talking Breis remixes? This is gonna be tough to narrow down...

Despite how the internet says this is a bad game, it was a good game for me during the times I still had the sega megadrive despite the flaws being pointed out. It doesn't top S3&K but it was still one of my favorites. I still remember how good the music was.

A little difficult to appreciate Fire Emblem Warriors's music when your favorite character is Tiki (because the Awakening gauge has its own theme music and she's built to use it near constantly).
