Almost done with New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Sorry if this has been mentioned here, but people at GameFAQs have apparently found all the rewards:

Quote
* Platinum Sparkling Stars (on your file): Clear the game 100% without recording any deaths.
* Gold Sparkling Stars: Clear the game without activating and/or using the Super Guide by dying 8 consecutive times in any level.

(Note that these effects can disappear upon violating these conditions, even if they were satisfied upon initially clearing the game.)

With or without these special effects, players can earn up to five stars by satisfying the below conditions in no particular order:

* Clear the game's main quest (defeat Bowser in World 8)
* Collect all 207 Star Coins in Worlds 1~8.
* Clear all levels (including those in World 9) with all secret exits where applicable.
* Collect all 231 Star Coins in Worlds 1~9.
* Clear/visit every dot on every world map (all red dots should turn blue): this includes cannons and mushroom houses.

So, in short, on my first file I'm not even getting the gold sparkly thing. :P

Damn.

And may I say, World 8 [spoiler]That lone secret exit is DEVILISHLY hidden.  I thought for sure I had all Star Coins there, then World 9's gate gave me zee uppercut.[/spoiler]

Yeah, I didn't know I was missing a level until I decided to open the Star Coins menu for no reason. And I had to visit the Peach Castle to see if any hint movies mentioned a secret goal in W8, then voilá, back to the target level to search for the alternate exit. Finding it wasn't that difficult, the two red bridges screamed OH HEY WE ARE ABNORMAL.

I beat the game. Final battle was incredible, so different from normal Mario final battles.

I have all Star Coins except in World 9, which I haven't visited yet. Tomorrow.

Well, that saves a lot of trouble.

Too bad though, sounds like a good challenge. :|

You can always try it anyway. If you'd like.

I might pass, though.

Well if you just kept resetting the game when you die, don't go after the Star Coins, and warp to World 8, it'd actually be pretty easy since you can then save at-will.

But not much point to it; it's in poor taste to not allow all skill levels of gamer not to build up their ability, then get such a shallow unlockable.

I have to say 8-7 was pretty awesome.
At first I was like "oh cool, rollercoaster-esque", and then near the end I was like "HOLY [tornado fang] DUAL TRACKS".

You know, I saw the hint earlier in the stage where it shows platforms underground, but I was so busy going after Star Coins that I didn't go back. :O

I never bothered with Hint Movies and I honestly don't even know where the Star Coins menu is.  Couldn't find ANY conspicuous-looking spots on the map, so I internet-searched which World 8 stage has a secret exit.  From there, pretty much as Da Dood said.  It's easy to find if you're actually looking for it, but running through the stage you think it's some kind of spike ball scenery or something.

I have to say 8-7 was pretty awesome.

Took the words out of my mouth.  If there is one thing more awesome than a roller coaster over lava, it's a FRIKKIN DUAL TRACK BONE DRAGON ROLLER COASTER over lava. 8)

I didn't actually watch the hint movie, I just looked through the menu in the castle to see if they mentioned a secret goal in W8 (because they also mention the level where the alternate exit is located).

I'm planning to watch all the hint movies in one sitting like a reward for getting 100% in the game. :)

For all the badassery Nintendo forgot to put in from SMB3's World 8, that was a righteous new addition.

As was the hallway leading up to the final fights (though I don't know if I'd call that 'new').

Just got this game yesterday. Holy God, it really is Super Mario Bros. 3 on steroids. The amount of creativity that is present in one level of this game absolutely [parasitic bomb] stomps the entirety of NSMB DS. And I'm only officially up to Ice Land err, World 3. XD

Also, I can pick my brother up, abuse his propeller suit to get me places, then chuck his ass into an obstacle. Game is high [tornado fang]ing tier. XD

Ok, just got his today and I just came back from beating world 1 with my brother. So much fun, this game is awesome. Even when we were both killed because of me pretty much being an [dark hold] to my brother, it was fun, and I can already tell the Propeller Suit is one of the best suits ever 8)

I'll never forget threatening my brother over who gets the suit. I yelled out loud after chucking him in a chasm, "I'll kill a [sonic slicer] for my propeller suit." XD

Good thing the suits come in multiples, or else blood would be shed for the propeller suit.

Propeller suits are ugly, fire/ice flowers are much better. All pretty and flowery and kinda making me question my masculinity.

I could've been playing this with my brother, but when he left his girl, he also left all his stuff, including the extra wiimote I had given them as a present so they could play together... I'm not sure if it's ironic or just annoying.

EDIT: Well. Few hours later, and said brother just called me to say he bought another controller. I guess he really doesn't want to see his ex.

Ugly, but useful.

It's no Hammer Suit or Blue Shell, this is true, but it works.

I've been wanting to see more of that since Contra. ::)

100% cleared the game today, 5 sparkly stars.  And I gotta say, to any who are worried about the game not being challenging, World 9-7 will hit you like a Piranha Plant to the testicles.

Goddamn.
That goddamn level.
It's not tough, but enjoy getting your dang Star Coins.
