Well, it's finally time to dig up an old favorite from the days of long lists of expected Wii titles. A new trailer from the mythical game has recently popped up and I'm certain most of you want to see what's up. The link is provided below, and of course, I'll fix this post later as I get my hands on more information. With that all said, I command interest and knowledge of this game to:

I read that as "Care Bears", all the time. Anyway, my FFFanboy is showing.

This is a SE title, exlcusive to the Wii and a sequel to the Gamecube Game "FF: Crystal Chronicles"

This new trailer was released today. And it looks promising!

Seems like a heavy improvement compared to the original FFCC.

Anyways, I like what I've seen so far, at least the main character does not feel like your cliched RPG main character.

WTF? This looks interesting, but it doesn't seem like Crystal Chronicles, AT ALL. What happened to the purposefully younger look? What's up with the teenage kid with Wally's haircut and telekenesis? What was unique is now becoming the same as the rest.  :(

Uh, excuse me, but WTF were you looking at? If that whole video didn't scream at the top of its lungs "unique" then I'm tripping balls. XD

The characters have that... Dull realism that was the style for FF12, instead of the different chibi-ish look in the original CC game. Even 13 looks somewhat different from that, of what we've seen so far. The only unique thing I really see is the telekenesis, as I don't think any Wii game has tried it yet, but it seems more like a gimmick from what's visible...

I don't like you now.

I don't like you now.

I don't personally care if you do, but I was in the minority of those who didn't like FF12. And while not basing my opinion upon the graphics, I'll certainly say that even FF10 looks more pleasing to the eyes than FF12's graphic style. Just remember, though, it's all a matter of personal opinion.  :\

FF12 is generally hated. By almost everyone.

Much cleaner version of the trailer can be seen here. I have to say, looking at it now, it doesn't look too far off from Mario Galaxy/Monster Hunter 3 tier, and in motion, everything looks that much more colorful & sexier.

Yeah I saw that one already.

And as I said. I'm waiting for this. The world of CC needs to be fleshed out. It's raw potential.

Telekinesis. You pick up things. And use them. You pick up bombers. And throw them. You pick up people. And throw them.

I can see that much. But I just wanna know certain things, like how much Wii-Remote handling this will take, and if there's much more to be had.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it looks good thus far. I just hope everything works for good.

I hope so too. FFCC was pretty disappointing. I remember seeing the first trailers and going "WHOA That looks a lot like Secret of Mana! Might be awesome!"

My exppectations were not met.

I loved the first FFCC! And I'm looking forward to this one too, however the interesting "cuteness" in the first and the Life as a King is more appealing to me. Never tried RoF though. Oh well... a game was made to be played! Not to look at its graphics!

Main Character is a Clavat it seems and the possible love interest a Selkie? And the Side-Kick or Rival is a Yuke? What about the Lillities?

Also I'm going to reserve FF: Echoes of Time for the DS. I love making my own FF characters and playing them in the world!

Can't wait!

So um yeah, am I the only person keeping an eye out for this one at this point? The site went up a few days ago and has since run it's Smash Dojo like course with updates coming in the form of funny gameplay videos that show off tidbits of the gameplay, AI & other fun things.

Site Link (Tons of Stuff Here)

Then we recently had a news extravaganza which gave us a look at some of the bigger things in play for this game:

Quote
- Each Crystal Bearer has a unique ability
- Layle on an escort mission - busy guarding new passenger airship, gets attacked by an army (led by Amidatelion)
- Action-oriented battles
- Possibility that other players can join in with Wii remotes to help or hinder you)

As The Crystal Bearers begins, Layle is on a boring escort mission, guarding an enormous new passenger airship on its maiden voyage. The job gets more exciting when it’s attacked by an army that turns out to be led by a Yuke named Amidatelion.

A ton of new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers details are available thanks to the latest Famitsu.

- Takes place in Crystal Chronicles world in the future
- Knowledge of magic nonexistent now
- Yukes race died during war with Lilthies
- Lilthies use crystals to support citizens
- Main character is Layle (Crystal Bearer of Clavat race)
- Can manipulate gravity
- Layle’s story starts after coming into contact with Amidatelion, a Yuke
- Amidatelion causes trouble for Layle, wants to seek him out
- Part of Layle’s cheek crystalized (Crystal Bearers have part of body turned into crystal)
- Althea - Queen of Lilthies Kingdom, mother dead, father sick
- Jegran - In charge of Lilthies army
- Take on role of Layle, use his gravitational abilities with Wii remote
- Wii remote for pointing at objects - grab demons, use them
- Layle’s actions change depending on creature he grabs
- Layle will pull himself up with grappling hook when grabbing onto something heavy (ex: ceiling lamp)
- Development on the game hadn’t begun when the game was first announced, hence why it’s taken so long
- No leveling up
- Build characters by equipping accessories
- Encounter creatures with variety of actions
- People react differently to use as you advance in the game
- No separation between battle/other elements in the game
- Developers striving to make the game fun to watch
- 60% complete
- No release date

This game makes a point of giving the player a great deal of freedom, even as it retains touches of what makes the series unique. The battles are still action-oriented, and as you'd expect, you can use the Wii Remote to mark out targets and throw them around with your crystal skills as you fight lots of enemies at once. However, unlike previous FFCCs (and most JRPGs, for that matter), there's no demarcation between cities and "the great outdoors." Layle can use all of his skills in town, too, picking up children and using his Force-ish magic to rip the newspapers out of people's hands if he likes. This opens up a very Fable-like element to the game, as Layle's actions in urban areas can either make him the darling sweetheart of the town's ladies or get him kicked out by the city guard -- or both. (The game has none of the multiplayer features of previous FFCCs, as Layle works mostly by himself, but Kawazu hinted that other people can use Wiimotes to help, or hinder, you in unspecified ways as you play the game)

"Part of the original concept was to make a 'touchable' Final Fantasy," notes Toshiyuki Itanaha, the game's director and character designer. "Games up to now were designed to have you fight outdoors and go shopping and talk to people in town, but this project eliminates all of that." The Crystal Bearers still has no release date (Itahana estimated the game to be about 60 percent complete), but if it lives up to its creators' promises, the interminable wait we've dealt with may just be worth it.

Overall, I'm excited. Comments?

Not at all. It's just that reading GAF comments are so funny, it's easy to forget to "spread the love" back here, donchaknow.  8D

The more I see, the more I like what I see. I was never able to really get into any of the Crystal Chronicles games in the past, but this one seems to do a lot to be more up my particular alley.

Plus, for this to be one of the distinctly few instances where Sq-En tries something actually ORIGINAL (like IaWW/TWEWY before it)? Oh, this has to be supported...

True, true, GAF can be quite the fun place at times. Also, this game looks and sounds way too awesome and ambitious at times. I really hope good things will come from it all. 8)

Also, love the sig Ben. XD
