It's a really really really really really really really really really really bastardized version of the plot, only similarity is the names, not even a single character looks like they should. Sad thing is that there actually is a decent plot they could use.

Honestly, when the actors mention they did their research on non existing games you know they didn't even give a [parasitic bomb].

The thing is figthing games were never really big on plot, it was always just a bunch of people gathered to some tournament in order to win the ultimate prize and defeat the Big Bad SNK Boss that is behind everything in the game who just happens to be the same guy you beat last game or some organization whatever. I will agree with Taiyo on this, they should at least play the game or read the manuals in order to get an idea of the characters even if the plot is convoluted but I really hate that they don't games seriously enough to make a decent move out of it. I know some thingsa may not work on the silver screen but come on, make some effort into making an awesome movie and even if it isn't a part of the games canon, show us that you understand the series enough that you could make your own game series out of it.

Capcom saw the trailer and actually gave him a $5000 budget to make it. That's what everyone at my Anime club told me.

He would have mentioned it and it would be all over Protodude's blog by now.

What Capcom DID do, is contact him and say they encouage his effort and they are happy that he's doing that sort of fan thing.

God, makes me want to do a small-budget indie movie based off Rocket Knight. At LEAST it won't be live action, and it will actually follow the plot!

Except the older SF movies, I watch them as if they were a seperate entity as a whole (I didin't like Chun Li becase it was less than a generic action movie with corny humor, and more of another The fast and the Furious movie ripoff). Besides.. who doesn't love the memes that spawned from them?  8D

Dude, it was good. No nostalgia goggles, here. I had known about it in the past, but never really seen it until about a year or so ago and it was classic.
