Yeah but for whatever reason they stopped at 4 in the US and 5 in the JP releases.

6 was just very well-hidden. >0<

There is indeed a Pocketstation app for the Japanese Vita. I haven't dug deep into it just yet, but it appears to function well by the looks of it. Create a save file from any of the Rockman games and then start using the app from there.

I kind of have to agree here. It is nice that they aren't emulating, but at the same time the PS2 collection was far superior. If they ported 9 and 10 I'd buy this in a heartbeat though. Maybe add more stuff to the old ones too, like 9 and 10 had extra modes, extra characters (Protoman playable in ALL the games??? WINNING), and challenges.

I'd be perfectly OK with a Mega Man & Proto Man cartridge.

Seriously if I had Protoman and Bass playable in every classic game, I mean screwing continuity and all, I would have totally say it be worth it but not in this state.

Again this would really only appeal to the people who don't have the games already which at this point there are very few people who do or maybe a Let's Player to buy it on Steam so they don't have to use a capture card.  Otherwise I see very little reason for someone to buy this.

I can see myself buying this so I can play them at work during my sanity breaks.

You know what would have been cool? A level builder like the one that was in MMPU. I had way too much fun with that thing.

Sakura Leic

Yeah that would have been nice, then have people upload them online with all the Kaizo Megaman levels people have made.

I'd also like a playable broom slashing Roll.
At least this was in Powered Up for the PSP but I agree with the idea of having her in the classic games.

-EDIT-
Beaten to the punch.

They're not emulating games in this, though. The games are built from the ground up using a special engine. And that engine is specifically designed for NES games. To put in anything else would require a completely different framework.

This is wrong.

Reddit Link, but basically the games are just in an NES emulator and its possible to extract the roms to play on a normal NES emulator.

Well some people are saying it could be a similar situation to how Chrono Trigger was handled on the PSOne, where inside the game disc is a ROM of the Super Famicom version that is used to pull music and graphic assets from.

Still, i'd like to see where this goes.

Satoryu

Reading the comments below that, it seems to be a bit more complicated than that. You can't just replace a game with any old NES rom. Most will crash the game. Only some Mega Man romhacks have gotten to work.

But yeah, at its core its just a form of emulation, and Capcom is talking it up to make it sound better. Just like Blast Processing.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

Eh? Really? They claimed officially that the games were redone in a new engine.

It may be possible that it just draws data from the roms, like graphics, animation ques, music, etc, but the engine coding is new?

Don't claim to be an expert on emulation but when I played the collection I experienced slow down and sprite flickering at the same points I would have in the real games or when emulated. Seems funny they would remake them on a new engine and leave these graphical limitations in?

ViperAcidZX

As if I didn't already have an incentive to get the collection cheap rather than full price...

As for the sprite flicker and such, I wouldn't mind if that was included for nostalgic purposes like how Mega Man 9 included a sprite flickering option, but why would you go through false advertising claiming these game were reworked when it's being ran through a supped-up emulator?

Well the 3DS version comes with a Gold Megaman Amiibo as a collectors edition and it or the regular Megaman Amiibo unlock exclusive challenges for the 3DS.  That's kind of neat admittedly.
