Just beat the game. Holy [parasitic bomb] the final boss kicked my ass. Is that thing even possible buster only? I didn't stand a chance until I started using Brandish.

I think it is, but it's probably a lot harder that way.
The first form of Trinity, once you memorize the pattern, is easier with just the buster. After realizing the pattern, if I got hit it was more my own fault. The second form, even if you learn the pattern, is not easy with the buster. I beat it by abusing Dyna's weapon. When the flower form first crawls along, Dyna's weapon allows you to take out two of the "stalks" at a time, which replenishes your power meter for it. Then you can attack five of those bad boys onto the main Trinity flower head for massive damage. The real kicker is when it's in the middle. The constant pollen spew makes it hard to stay below and hit it/dash through it, which is pretty much how you beat it.
Satoryu
Yeah, the part when it's in the middle shooting gunk all over the place. There must be something I'm missing there. I have no idea how to move around it. Thankfully Brand nulls those projectiles. Oddly Avi does not protect you from them.

Am I the only one that just spammed the ice ability during that fight? It slows down Trinity's movement and hits fairly hard.

As for the 'spewing gunk' in the middle part, the trick is to take out the base. Once that happens, you can chill on the upper platforms since the gunk can't reach you at that height.
From a livestream I've seen from one of my friends, I can confirm you can skip parts of or all of it. Though my question is why couldn't the backer list have its own section outside of the game credits like what Skullgirls did for those that donated to their IndieGoGo campaign?

Sakura Leic

Yeah that is admittedly is a really bizarre choice.

Nexus

in a game filled with bizarre decisions, it doesn't really surprise me

Sakura Leic

That is true I guess.

I'll definitely have to try that.

I was watching a friend play as Ray yesterday. She looks really fun.
I didn't spam the Cyro ability. I spammed the Dyna ability. And yeah, you can easily take out the base of the flower. But the problem is that if you have to dash through it when it's spewing gunk, you're gonna get hit. Although I'm tempted to try using Brand while down there next time.

See? Next time. BECAUSE I WANT TO TRY NEW THINGS TO BEAT THIS BOSS BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE THIS GAME!
So far I am really enjoying it. I got my ass kicked by Pyrogen's stage and by Pyro himself, but I overcame the adversity and got my first A-rank clear in a single run. Very satisfying. 8)

Sakura Leic

Damn that's pretty amazing you managed to get an A Rank.

I know, surprised too. I was expecting a B at best or C at worst, but BAM, A-rank. Admittedly, seeing a few players struggle on Pryo's level may have helped me prepare put the pieces together in some places beforehand, especially that last stretch with the raining fireballs, but for me seeing and executing don't always go so well. I think all the time I've spent playing TG_Holy's Metagal and attempting a minimalist run of Mega Man X1 earlier (very poorly) may have also helped prepare me for Mighty No. 9.

Now then, back to getting my ass kicked by Cryo's level.

I really like how devs handled the harder difficulties. While I don't care for the fact that you get all weapons at the start, it feels like they put actual effort into making the game harder. None of that Mega Man Zero crap of nerfing the player, here the enemy placement and boss attack patterns have been beefed up to add more challenge without making you feel weaker. Considering the fact that so many games get this wrong, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't the case here.

I'm looking forward to trying this on the harder difficulty later on.

Hypershell

Nice to know they got SOMETHING right.  Yeah, Inti's concept of a Hard Mode isn't something I was ever terribly fond of either.  They've gotten better with that in recent years, though.

Unfortunately I kind of share PB's bias of not having a seperate Dash Button due to the limited technology.  I really don't like double tapping the D-Pad to Dash and it used to be quite finicky to me. :\
Then don't, just spam your air-dash (jump button in midair, easy peasy).  Zero starts with it and X can find it very quickly in Catfish's stage.  In Xtreme2 you actually get to keep your air-dash momentum until you hit the ground, so it's much faster than on the console games.

Also the Classic-series-style "slide" command of Down+Jump works on the ground.  You can't really dash-jump that way, but, again, air dash.

Sakura Leic

I really need to play a game with air-dashing, I'm not used to doing that.

I just realized. When Patch gives you items, the compartment they come from is on its behind. Patch is pooping out health and lives. Upside down.

I dunno, I think they're popping them out of their crouch then their poophole when I take a closer look at it.

Wait—OH GOD, THE IMPLICATION! :o
