I mainly rinse my silverware between uses and throw it into the dishwasher when I want to wash a full load.

I find it's more efficient to wash it so we don't run low on silverware, which my dad doesn't get. Besides it just becomes a chore to unload the dishwasher anyway.

For a family, I agree with that. For one or two people, I be lazy.

Yeah though even if I did live alone I would probably still hand wash it, or at least try to.

I generally will rinse/wash and leave it in the sink between uses. The soap occasionally comes into play, but I save the actual dishwashing for when I go to bed. Throw it all into the dishwasher and let it do the work.

Meanwhile I realized that I need an extra spoonful of sugar for decaf coffee because I only need 2 for a Dark Roast Regular.

I feel your pain there. Sorta. My dad keeps putting his dishes in the sink instead of the EMPTY dishwasher, then yells at me when the sink overflows as if I had been the one filling the sink instead of the dishwasher. =3=
