They just add that right amount of juiciness that I think most pancakes and waffles lack with only syrup alone. Though blueberry muffins are awesome.

Cream Cheese on waffles and pancakes, that sounds so weird to me. Then again I don't use butter on them so I wouldn't know.

My pancakes must be plain buttermilk pancakes. If I find one blueberry in my pancakes...

Same goes for my waffles, though chocolate chips are fine.

For me, it's a texture thing. Fruit changes the pancake's texture, and I find it sickening. Chocolate chips are fine, as the texture and flavor are different and mix better with the bread texture and taste of the pancake.

I tend to find most fruit/starch combinations to be gross. I was never a fan of strawberry shortcake. The food, not the character. Loved the character as a kid.
