You know when I play my 3DS when it's naked my hands starts to hurt but when I put armor on it the extra bulk doesn't cause my hands strain, it's a little weird.

That's mainly due to the added bulk preventing your hands to have to hold a thinner console.  It's the same as how thicker pens are easier to arthritic hands to grip.

HL2 also had a 700MB update yesterday with no official update notes released so I'm a little more suspicious on this one admittedly. though my friend explained in that case that it may be some large update to Source engine in general since other games use HL2's resources to run

That was considered part of the evidence. In fact the update was reported by some to be 3.7 GB or in some extreme cases, 7.3 GB. Which is especially odd, those numbers. There were some discrepancies though. People had 500 or even 50MB updates. I myself didn't get an update at all.

What really irked me though is half my achievements are gone.

I really doubt Valve is going to do anything original or Half-Life-based for a long time. They stopped doing original things after they completed Episode 2.

Counter-Strike is regular counter terrorism pre-Black Mesa Incident. Left 4 Dead is in a zombie-infested America a long time after HL2. Alien Swarm took place after L4D as humans retreat to space. Ricochet is a sport played during that time. Naturally DoD is before that, and DOTA is supposedly a few million years after modern humanity.

As for Portal...  I quote GLaDOS far too often, and I wish Avast's update voice sounded like GLaDOS, and I have yet to use GLaDOS (Siri) on the iPad, as I'm wary of it.

And I haven't found a need to use it, yet.

The people who made Narbacular Drop made Portal I thought? And Portal has jumping. Its clearly original because of that. But in all seriousness there's plenty of original content in Portal besides the Portal Gun stuff.
