Well, things to note from the gameplay...

Diagonal running, unless I missed it from previous videos.
Also, PokeBall capture. Looks like the struggling decreases per shake, I really like this small detail. It just adds on to even more frustration when the Pokemon pops out on the third shake. 8D

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Well we've known about the diagonal running (they confirmed it and even said they had to keep it 8-way since more made it trickier to track encounters in grass)

but yeah, that was great too. Any idea what move Honedge used there?

It might come in handy for the RP 8D

I am so tempted to use that in the RP, but the result would just be a very, very angry Mewtwo.  And we know what happens when he gets angry.

MEWTWO SMASH!

The Pokeball breaking and stuff?
Current playthrough: Chrono Trigger and God Eater Ressurection

Quickman

Yes.  Plus more stuff breaking.  Because Mewtwo smash.

Sakura Leic

Sakura might have to give him a talking too if he does, because she can.

I did say I might have missed that. :P

As for the move... It looks like Aerial Ace, or Night Slash... Or I might be totally wrong. XD

Amatiramisu

You'd think by now they would be able to track random encounters in grass using more than just eight directions. Though I'm sure there's good enough reasons for keeping the movement slightly restricted.

Dr. Wily II

Oh yea. I totally forgot to mention one more thing about the gameplay video.

One of the presenters is secretly Sigma. *sage nods*

I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Also, in the original Japanese dub, Mewtwo wasn't "evil."  He was portrayed closer to that of a confused child and even had childlike mannerisms.  The English dub made him evil.
Huh.  I could tell there was a disconnect between Mewtwo's facial expressions and what was actually happening during that bit where Ash freed the original Pokemon in the first movie.  I just thought it was random.

Still, I like the dub's take on Mewtwo.  His "seriousness" is a nice contrast to an otherwise overly-light series, and it also works well for a movie in which you're supposed to be sad when somebody allegedly dies.

I admit, I still find it strange as hell that Mew was supposed to be a huge ass in the Japanese version.  I prefer the Dub's take on Mew too.

Yeah, Mewtwo asked what had happened in the Japanese dub.  Obviously, he wasn't expecting something to blow up.

And blarg to accidentally hitting "post" rather than enter. :P

Police Girl

Yeah dub was alright.

I far prefer the Japanese version though, for the beginning part that was cut from international version, to the being in widescreen instead of full screen (seriously what was the purpose of that), and the MUSIC, holy [parasitic bomb] I can't stand the shitty pop music in the big fight scene and I don't like the sappy junk they used elsewhere.

But the voices were fine, give me a mix of both the english voices with the japanese music track and I'd be cool with that.

But I like Brother my Brother. :(

That was the one that played over the clone fight right?

I'm sure its a fine song in its own merit, but I don't like it so much. Opinions and all.

Yeah it was, but I understand it's your opinion.

My copy of the Japanese dub doesn't have the deleted scenes in.  It must have been added to later releases, as my copy is one of the earlier tapes.

The stuff at the beginning with young Mewtwo and the clone Kanto starters?

That part brings a lot of story with it, I can't understand why that wouldn't be in the VHS.

Cherrykorock

Because kids just want to see pokemon fight and story is just there?

Maybe so? But that's what the TV show is for since the movies don't really have that much fighting.

Cherrykorock

Which is why when I went to see this in a theater as a kid I was really confused! The story was odd, the characters were boring (more so than usual) and the dialogue...
that anti-violence speech just felt like it was half the movie!! XD
All I remember was seeing some badass looking Charizard and I wanted to see it. haha.

Quickman

It's tucked away in the Special Features of Mewtwo Returns, so I have the English dub.  Also, I own the original radio drama on which it was based (used to have the translation), so until that was animated, the radio drama covered that story in more detail.
