QuoteThe official Japanese website for the anime adaptation of Sega and Chunsoft's 428 ~Fuusa Sareta Shibuya de~ visual novel has launched with the announcement of the anime's official title: CANAAN. The visual novel for the Nintendo Wii tells a present-day story about a detective, a young man, a virus researcher, a freelance writer, and a cat mascot character who are brought together by bizarre events with worldwide implications in the Tokyo neighborhood of Shibuya. Sword of the Stranger director Masahiro Ando (not to be confused with the similarly named Sailor Moon animation director Masahiro Ando) is overseeing the animators at P.A. Works (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society, Darker than BLACK). Type-Moon is already producing a bonus anime scenario for the game. Screenplay writer Kinoko Nasu and original character designer Takashi Takeuchi of Fate/stay night and Tsukihime, Lunar Legend fame are involved in both 428 projects.

I thought it was already worth making a thread for this. I'm really looking forward to something new from the guys behind TYPE-MOON, despite being only the animation based on a bonus scenario of the game, but at least it IS being handled by Nasu and Takeuchi. Thread is being edited with new info as they come.

On this weekend's ComiKet 75, a short 17-second teaser was also shown which is available here

Eh, I might get into it, because I MAY be restricted to video-game based anime, and this is one of them.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

What kind of brainwashed, narrow-minded Type Moon fan would I be if I didn't plan to watch this?
As long as it takes place in the Nasuverse I'm satisfied.

Also, this hasn't been posted here

Phi

Well, I'll be torrenting the hell out of this! owo

I wish It would air sooner... >_> Eh, I can wait.

Shiki Tohno

No TM fan could call themselves so without watching this.

I'm getting this the moment it hits the intertubes.

Psycho Yuffie

I thought the guy was a girl the first time I looked at that picture.

I know nothing of TYPE MOON and yet this intrigues me for some reason. Will one of you senior TM fans will let me know if it's good and something I can jump into without knowing much about the universe?

Shiki Tohno

I don't think this even happens in the Nasuverse, Jerry. :P This is, as far as I am informed, merely a commissioned animated story by the guys at TM using pre-established characters and settings by the commissioning franchise company.

In regards to CANAAN, there's no knowledge required the way I see it. 428 is a visual novel for the Wii in Japan, made by SEGA. CANAAN is based on a bonus scenario written and directed by Nasu Kinoko, the author of Kara no Kyoukai, Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, while characters are designed by Takeuchi Takashi, who designed the characters for the three stories listed just now. I don't think it will have any relation to the other visual novels because the story is set in an already established setting made by SEGA, but maybe I'm wrong.

Shiki Tohno

tl;dr more details saying basically what I said up there. :P

RMX

I'm not really excited with CANAAN, since the footage shown so far doesn't catch my attention, I can't know the amount of conspiracy in the plot and there are no signs of nasuverse so far. The song and the animation are pretty, though.

Well, if the anime is great as the opening...I'm going to watch it.
"Di Mant de Vongole Primo!"

Badass OP with delicious gun physics. But if that was the OP theme, then what the hell have I been listening to in all the PVs?

I became interested in this again the moment I learnt Nasu shoved Mystic Eyes of whatever in the show.

Remember that this show has no relation to the nasuverse, so it couldn't be a Mystic Eyes variation.
