So... AA5 is apparently rated M in the US.

Kind of surprising they went this route, I mean how much could have changed in the games tone that the game got a higher rating?

Phi

No Ace Attorney game has even come close to M-rated. Even if this game is the darkest in the series, I highly doubt that rating is warranted. This has to be an exaggeration.

Quote"Violence, Blood, Suggestive Themes, and Language" - which are actually the very same content descriptors assigned to the first game in the series back in 2001.

Which is odd, considering there has been no language in the Ace Attorney games. The worst they've gone was the use of the word "damn"; which isn't even a curse.

As for suggestive themes (in the first game), it's more like mild suggestive themes. The worst was some very minor boob jiggling.

I bet this game won't come close to actual M-rated content at all, as that would be a HUGE leap for the franchise. From what I've seen in the demo footage, the playful humor is still there at the very least. That would not mix well with extreme gore and excessive cursing.

1st AA game on better-than-DS-hardware = more detail = the exact same content is viewed as less appropriate for the young.

Of course, I want to smack whoever in the ESRB made such a decision, but I'll bet anything that is the case.  Viewing a dead body in stereoscopic 3D is bound to [acid burst] somebody off, I guess...

what

Oh yeah, this is a DLC case.

Coming from a series where we had to interrogate a parrot, this doesn't surprise me too much.

The whale is the one charged with murder though.

Why do they feel this need to rush the game out the door? There's no need to rush it, Capcom is being dumb. What was the point of them trying to get support for a physical release anyway just to say "We want the game to come out quicker so no physical release for you!"

I should learn not to read the comments on that page, so many people acting like "You should be happy we're getting the game at all" and "People who buy physical releases only do that to resell."

I wouldn't mind having a nice box, I like cartridge art. And something about a physical copy is just so much more satisfying than dropping $40 on a downloadable file. Not to mention one that's tied to a system rather than an account thanks to Nintendo-brand "I don't get the concept of the internet". Anyway, I'm getting off track.

I'll just watch somebody else play it or something, I'm suddenly just not very excited for this anymore.

Phi

I'm way too much of a fan to skip out on this.

It is indeed very unfortunate about the lack of physical releases. I'd love to line up all my physical Ace Attorney copies chronologically and take a picture or something. Oh well.

I'm still buying this game, one way or another. It's localized, and that's the very least any fan could ask for.

Police Girl

We have a release date and Price.

Oh hey, Capcom's being sensible and not charging $40. Still don't like buying digital games over $10, but I'll probably make an exception.

Not that I'm not still sore over no physical copy but whatever.

Did you play the 4 main games?

I'm not even done with the first game.

But its made me a fan, so I'll still want to buy this anyway.

I was about to say that 2 is pretty short on character development compared to 3 or 4, but then it did introduce Pearl and Franziska...  3 is my fav if only for the fact that Mia and Edgeworth were added to the playable roster, both definitively awesome moments for the series.

2 was the worst of the series, IMO. Though I did really enjoy that last case.

Even AJ was a better game, overall.

I don't disagree, but "worst" is in this case a very relative term.  Picking out the worst Ace Attorney game is like picking out the worst Mario Kart: it's still a hell of a lot better than most of the other stuff out there.

Except Mario Kart Wii is the worst mario kart and there are far better alternatives.

Nooooo Double Dash is the worst Mario Kart.

Short but sweet, it was.  Phoenix's voice is different now.

The emotion reading thing strikes me as a little overly simple, but then I guess it does add some variety.

When I get the game, I think I'll mostly play it in 2D. The 3D just... doesn't look right to me.

Plus, 2D has the nice classic feeling.

Zan

Got the game. That first case sure is different from the demo.
