I can dig it.

Also, man things are really tense here lately...

I approve the idea of a contest to make a better logo for the 25th anniversary of Mega Man.

I just don't get how people are jumping from the logo to OMG CAPCOM'S GONNA [parasitic bomb] ON MEGAMAN AND ALL ITS FANS THIS YEAR in the same breath.
The same reason they jumped down Capcom's throat for X being anything less than a full playable character in UMvC3, Mirby.  Because they WERE shat on by Capcom with Universe and Legends 3, they're more than a little sick of it, and it's left them on edge.

This logo could very easily mean absolutely nothing.  It's unused, probably for a reason.  But I must admit, if I were to assume it had any significance, I would get only bad news from there.  All the people saying that Mega Man needs to be more than his NES back catalog at this point, I can't really say that they're wrong.  That particular nostalgic boom was over in 2010 and we were left at the end of 2011 yearning for a proper modern adaptation of the franchise, be it Classic with a freakishly alienating art style (...), a PC game of a basically dead genre with an awesomely wide crossover cast and multiplayer just because Hell froze over, or the decade-old wet dream that we probably would have given up on had Capcom not brought it up.

In light of all of that shattering, Capcom going back to "Hey, remember the NES?" is probably the worst possible form of consolation that they can offer.  It flies in the complete opposite direction of anything the fans were looking for.

But, again, it's an unreleased logo.  It may mean absolutely nothing.

I too think that the logo looks pretty good.  However, I don't have my hopes up for anything significant happening in the 25th anniversary after everything that occurred last year.

Someone on TMMN brought up the 25th anniversary logo for Street Fighter.

...

Now I REALLY hope that MM logo isn't the final one.

Know what would be funny? If Universe and Legends 3 weren't actually canceled and they were working on them in secret this whole time to release this year.

That would be cool, but it'll never happen

*points to my avatar*

Blackhook

Everyone knows that they were secretly working on MegaMan generations...or X9

Karasai♪

Now that you mention that, MegaMan Generations would be pretty awesome.

As long as it had more content than Generations did.

*Still pissed off about no Sonic 3 level, and so many damn city levels.* XD

Uhh..Sky sanctuary?

They treated all of Sonic 3 & Knuckles as one game the one time they really should have pulled a level from each "part" of the game. Seriously, why we didn't get like Hydrocity & Lava Reef (with a smaller Sky Sanctuary segment/cameo) is beyond me.

Guys, I'm sorry to bump this thread, but apparently that was indeed the final logo.

The first thing they stamp it on is a soundtrack compilation of the ten main games (no MMnB, World, Soccer, or arcade music) that costs roughly $185. Wonderful.

Mirby

Mega Ran is also using it on his 5th Anniversary album.

I wasn't sure if it was official, but since he samples the actual audio with permission from Capcom, there's further evidence for ya.

to be fair, technically THIS was the first thing it was stamped on seeing as that soundtrack compilation was announced after this album

Ah.

(Who's the artist for that image, by the way?)

Mirby

I have no clue. His site says nothing, but I tweeted him to find out.

But it should be more palatable that the first thing it was used for was an album by a guy who loves the series and is a tribute to the music of it rather than an ridiculously expensive collection of music that brings nothing new. :<

Gotta love the ORIGINAL CHARACTER DO NOT STEAL in Black Megaman, even more to love when every other character is legit.
AND BM has [tornado fang]ing Kalinka on his arm, why?

so the whole purpose of this post was to [sonic slicer] about the artwork?

seems rather inane to me

Yes. But, speaking of ridiculously expensive: The Street Fighter 25th Anniversary set--

QuoteOn top of the games included in the bundle, the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Set packs in video content like a Blu-ray Street Fighter documentary, Street Fighter IV and Super SFIV anime movies, all episodes of the Street Fighter anime series, and Street Fighter: II The Animated Movie.

--is roughly $150.

The E-Can, which is far less substantial, is $200.

Bastards.

Mirby

Well Street Fighter doesn't have a fanbase that they've royally [tornado fang]'d over, so I guess they'll be a bit more accommodating in that aspect. :<

But the artwork DOES suck balls.
Seriously.

[spoiler]Just like MegaRan's "music" actually [/spoiler]

Would it be one of my posts if it was any other way?

$200 for only one series of music is kinda crap though. They should put X and Legends (The entire soundtrack as opposed to the thing they did with the OST's) for that price.

Mirby

i had forgotten that around here opinion is treated as absolute infallible fact by quite a few members...

*sighs*

anyways, just pointing out that the logo was used elsewhere already, no need to shoot the messenger >_>

What? Are you talking about me, by any chance?

In fact, what are you even babbling about now? Not trying to be rude, just simply curious what the heck does that have to do with anything I said (assuming this is aimed at me... and it probably was)?

Sure, maybe I did say that both the cover art and "music" suck... but I never said it was an absolute fact. If you like his horrible (to me) rapping, that's fine by me. Like it. But if I disagree, don't [tornado fang]ing say that I'm of such a retarded mindset like "MY OPINION IS FACT!"
