Spidey was not about punnery as much as he was about quips at the situation and at the villain in question. The purpose of Spidey's quips is to [acid burst] off the enemy enough to throw them off their game. Like so...

Best Spidey series GET. Not so excited for Ultimate, still pissed they canned Spectacular.
