After the discussion about echidnas in nature, I figured posting this image here would be appropriate:

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

It's even creepier when the tree moves and the whole room fluctuates in brightness when the sun is on the opposite position.

If you catch it at the right time, you have two shadows. One from the sun and one from the sun's reflection off the wall.

I wonder why GBA didn't have the 4 button layout on the face. Was there some kind of technical limitation? Were they lazy? Was it just too expensive to put two more buttons on it?

Was it, perhaps, produced before Nintendo considered putting four face buttons on their handheld?  The world may never know.

They probably considered it since the SNES. I would believe it if someone said the DMG/GB couldn't handle it. I would believe it if someone said the CGB/GBC would really use it that much because it focused on NES ports and like games. But the GBA was SNES ports and like games. Such are the mysteries of Nintendo.

Then again, the same question of why they went back to such a simplistic button layout could be asked of the Wii, as well.  Maybe a similar mentality was involved.

They were probably considering about the current model's design before the release, and the four traditional buttons wouldn't fit the current configuration of the handheld.

The current model? The current model when they were developing the GBA was the GBC. The only GBA/DS to ever be too small for four buttons was the GBA Micro.
