*throws him in water*

I played it recently and while it certainly FEELS different than genesis Sonic, it is still real good, and its score is even better.

Also, Stardust Speedway would fit PERFECTLY with modern sonic. It is, as the stage name implies- all about speed!

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

Waifu

That's odd. Well, I hope Sonic R makes an appearance. -_-

If they include the appropriate remix, I'm going to be very very sad for missing it...  Ah well, that's why we have YouTube.

From what I've heard, it uses Doomsday. Some guy got an audio rip from Sonic Boom probably.

And yes, that does indeed suck because the Final Boss music should've been used.

Hypershell

It's a sad day when Sega botches the soundtrack.  That's usually their strong point.

...you know, I had this same thought of Colors' Super Sonic jingle. :\
Also on DeviantArt, Rumble, DLive.tv, and the Fediverse (@freespeechextremist.com and @bae.st)

Flame

I liked the jingle. But it was a bit repetitive. Still nice though

Sonic Generations DEMO available TOMORROW 6/23

Bad news: It might only be the classic playstyle. At least that's what the article makes it seem like... we'll see. It's better than nothing i guess.

Phi

It would only make sense to compare BOTH modern and classic playstyles, no? Alternating between them to have the general feel of what the game is gonna be like, the physics, polish (etc.)

It would be stupid to skimp out on something that's equally important to the game.

Protoman Blues

I guarantee the most important thing to the majority of Sonic fans is how the Classic style plays. They know how the modern style does.

True. Although, from a company standpoint, it wouldn't make sense to showcase virtually "half" the experience. SEGA put great emphasis on both gameplay styles. Naturally, this demo should have both. The Green Hill stage (modern) is an entirely new layout anyway, so why shouldn't we want to play it?

Not to mention it would add to the play time.

Flame

It makes perfect sense. We already know that the Modern half will play like Colors. And everyone is fine with that. If we want to play Modern sonic we will just go play colors while we wait. Nothing new.

CLASSIC is the defining point here, and all the fans care about knowing right now. Especially after The terrible Sonic 4. (with it's horrible physics). It supposedly has physics almost identical to the genesis games, and will play just like them. (no homing attack involved). THAT is the juicy part people want to experience.

Yeah that doesn't make sense at all. Especially from the stand point of newcomers, which I admit is a little more rare than usual for big franchises but, it'd make sense to include both sides.

Classic may be the focus, but it's only half of whats being presented.

"There are 19 days remaining on this demo." D:

Also I found one glitch.

One of the loop-de-loops where the camera suddenly changes, Sonic dashed through the walls and ended up dying. XD

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Police Girl

No problems here, the Framerate didn't seem so smooth, but the graphics and gameplay were solid.

Very nice, Sega.

Demo already hacked and the level list leaked.

Sega, thats why you don't put all of that info into your demos, thats just stupid.

But its nice for us so keep doing it. :P

Also LOL at Modern Sonic being named 'genericsonic' in the game files.
Also, YAY for included emulator.
Flame
too many city stages indeed. City escape, Speed Highway, Crisis City, AND Rooftop Run? thats a bit.

However, we have Sky Sanctuary and Death Egg, so Im happy.

I dont recognize Time Eater though. Might be the final stage. (unless its from a game I dont know about?)

Still sort of bummed that theres no Stardust Speedway though. A Sonic game involving time travel and different stages from previous Sonic Games- but No CD stages? From the Sonic Game that first introduced time travel to the series? Really?

But we get a metal Sonic Boss, so thats good.

Actually, Im wondering. How will boss battles work? Will each character get to fight the boss in different ways? Or will each sonic get different bosses?

From what Sonic Retro is saying, Time Eater might very well be the "Big Beastie that isn't Robotnik/Eggman Final Boss"
City Escape is cool with me.
I like Speed Highway but I would've chose Windy Valley.
Crisis City was the worst stage in 06 (I honestly thought Radical Train was better), way too [tornado fang]ing long and had the most unpredictable Mach Speed, they should've gone with Kingdom Valley or White Acropolis.
Rooftop Run isn't even that good, they should've chose Crimson Carnival (Eggmanland) just because that stage is badass looking.

Maybe Sega is just lazy. City Stages are easier to design (Lots of rectangles and straight stuff.)
EDIT: Listening to the ripped music from the Demo, Modern Green Hill sounds nice. The Menu theme is just as good as its Sonic Heroes rendition, the Level Clear is *finally* the Sonic 3 jingle again, Drowning is the same as Colors, the 1-Up is the Secret Unlocked from SA2, they must've stole the idea from Megamix on that one.

OBJECTION MAN

I tried the 360 demo. The framerate was a little choppy. 30fps? Not cool for a fast paced 2D retro title.

Downloading the PS3 one now. Here's hoping this one uses an acceptable frame rate.

Actually, every impression I've read says that that one is even worse >.>

Anyways, it took forever to download but I finally played it. It was ok, but jumping felt off to me for some reason, dunno if I'm the only one.

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Flame
You have to admit though, Crisis City is one of the more Iconic stages in 06. One of the ones most featured anyway. Kingdom Valley was nice, but at the same time, frustrating. Radical Train was cool, but forgettable. White Acropolis on the other hand, was pretty good I guess, but I dont know how they could handle it for Modern Sonic. Crisis City on the other hand, was a bit more fast paced. (Especially since it has that auto running segment) What would have been a  nice alternative to Rooftop Run could have been Empire City. But I liked Rooftop run, so heres hoping it is as nice as in Unleashed. Seaside Hill was also one of my favorite Heroes Stages, so im not to upset there. In fact, Im glad they brought in the menu theme. Also, if those icons can be believed, Supersonic is indeed playable in-game again

Now lets hope they dont [tornado fang] up the method of getting him like they did in Colors.

BTW, whats that item with the Motobug on it you figure? Invincibility maybe?
Jumping felt a little short IMO.

Sega needs to learn how to program for the PS3 better, the 360/PS3 games always suffer in framerate and loading it seems on the PS3 ports.
I was saying that since from what I've heard Radical Train was considered one of the worst stages in the game (Which would go to Crisis City for being absolutely fucktarded sometimes (Mediocre Boarding, Floaty Platform Tornado with awful Homing Attack Recognition AND Mach Speed? [tornado fang] THAT.) and Dusty Desert for the Sand=Water dealio.)
Hell, they should've gone with Flame Core, that level was pretty cool design wise, I just said White Acropolis because of the Kickass Music.
OBJECTION MAN

Good lord the PS3 version is terrible. Its all muddy, looks like [parasitic bomb], and has a lower frame rate in a lot of spots.

Is the 360 version that much better? Visually, it looked fine to me when i played it, albeit a little low res and the physics for the jumping needs work. Also this may sound a little nitpicky but... NO result screen in the demo? The hell SEGA?
