The Blind Archer

15 seconds... am I the only one that knew he was gonna say "things get real hairy?" >_>

Da Dood

Quote from: STMNo one said you had to do them.

So I didn't have to slow pace down to a slug for 2/3 of the game and play Ride Armor shooter and treasure hunter in SA2...? ::)

Come on, a very obvious and predominant mechanic is not really 'digging'. I don't even hate the werehog, it's just that variety for the sake of variety is not necessarily a good thing. Like we can't predict every single complaint when the game comes out...

Police Girl

The TV commercial makes the game look better than I thought it would be, maybe it was the fact that there was speed. Unlike in the screenshots.

The difference was those two were full on level gimmicks. The tornado segments and the cart/boarding segments, which these are more similar to, were brief section only used at the most three times. They're two very different things.

Da Dood

I hope you're right. But do we know how often Sonic will be in werehog form?

Satoryu

forty percent of the game.

What happens in Vegas stays on Youtube. I also stream on Twitch from time to time.

Da Dood

Well there you go. I stand by my view. I think they're way too talented people to run design textbook every chance they get. Next thing we know racing games will have towns and NPCs with trading quests, because apparently a game can't be attractive by sticking with the one element that makes it popular.

Diddy Kong Racing was almost that way.

MarioKart. Just go back to basics! 8 racers, no drift boosts, no draft boosts, balanced items! Yeesh.

Jericho

Honestly, I love the big amount of players in Mario Kart. It's just the mechanics and item balancing that get the better of me. [/off-topic]

Ah, but back on topic, lemme pull a post from GAF where someone remarked between the similarities of this game and SMG, SMS, DB/Z, and even the Final Fantasy movie (giant tentacled monster within the planet):

QuoteY'know, I was getting a real SMG feel from that intro.

But that's because it's in space, and uses orchestration. Also, to compare the overworld to Delfino Plaza just because it's in the same beach-type setting (remember, Station Square was on the coast) is a little premature. Now if it winds up having similar designs, sure, lay it on it.

...also, why did we have to have the great purple tentacled monster? Couldn't it just be Eggman in an extra vicious machine or some augmentation and have the Werehog traverse the areas of the continents where the terrain damage was extreme, and not easy to run through? That would've made more sense.

Strider Xhaiden

I really wanted to like this game, but I can't see it happening. In my optical receptors, there is only one way they can save this game from the scrapheap.

- All useless characters must be destroyed. This inlcudes all Non-Robotnik villains, Chip, Were-Sonic, the entire human population, Big, Cream and Cheese, Shadow and anyone else that was introduced post Sonic and Knuckles. (My timeline's a little confused at the minute, so Amy and Metal Sonic can stay too. Everyone else can burn.)
My Twitch channel. Random streams during the week.
Currently streaming: Transformers: Devastation

If only the intro was a stage..  8D

But on second thought, I'd wait for my opinion on this game, if it lives up to the hype, then I may consider it a decent game. >.>

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

The Blind Archer

That quote lost all credibility when I got to this line.
QuoteThat would've made more sense.

Video games, a form of fictional storytelling, are supposed to make sense now?  Whomever wrote that article must be very new to video gaming.

STM

You guys complaining about Eggman not having the main villain role... you didn't read the achievements list, I take it. They give away what the last level is.
Eggmanland. Yes, he actually built his damn city, finally.
I also imagine Weresonic isn't going to stick around after this game. They only introduced him to vary up the game. Most people who play games... not just gamers... have short attention spans and get bored doing the same things over and over. They like a change up every now and then.

Jericho

By the way, I can't be the only one loving all of the subtle references and tributes to past Sonic & SEGA elements in this game, right?

Secon'd.
Anyway, since Eggmanland finally gets an appearance, I wonder what the city is, and the location is at. >.<
Me, doggone it.

Suspense of Disbelief only goes so far. We've had ALIENZZ!!1!, already had a natural monster Chaos, then we had 2 artificial ones of Biolizard and Metal Overlord, genies out the wazoo, now this?

Something sane, please.

Gaia

Well, if we are getting Sonic to fight spirits now, as the screenshot as to what Weresonic was fighting, I'd suggest that he's fighting himself.

Because a talking cartoon blue hedgehog who runs at the speed of sound through a world infested with shuttle loops totally is.

My point still stands. Cartoon logic takes priority over "sane" in a cartoon world.
