I think it's the theme that drove them nuts. "SSEEEVVEEENN RRIINIGGSS IN HAAAANNDD!"

The ol' Blue Dragon Effect, eh?
PRICK YOUR HAAAAAND UNTIL IT BLEEEEEDS

Solar

Say whatever you want about "Seven Rings in Hand", but to me it is up there with Live and Learn as one of my favorites =P

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Yeah, I can't belive the Blue Dragon effect still applies for themes of Video Games today.  :|

@ Taiyo: I do like the theme, but that theme can drive any music reviewer nuts.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Same reason S2, S3&K get praised, yet the new games lack, and a point Sonic Team can't get through their thick, furry skulls:
Replay Value
Usually in the form of Special Stages AND playable Super forms throughout.
There are such things as control and stage glitches, overgimmicking, and open-bottom design to focus on, and to avoid segments that would kill pacing (Werehog, Sandopolis Act 2, etc.), but even if these are all achieved, Sonic can't get anywhere without some sort of replay value. Otherwise, the games are a rental, at best.

But that's just it.  I could go back and play Secret Rings.  I really did enjoy it that much.  Granted, I'd love a Super Sonic form as well, but upgrading the Ring with new powers and such made my progress feel warranted.  That and I [tornado fang]ing loved the Soundtrack.  Blue On The Run is easily one of the best Boss Battle songs ever.

Eh, screw legality. Besides, the OST is still months off.

ADX's of Sonic Unleashed fresh from the PS2 version. WinAMP users will want to install this plugin for best results.

Oh hell yes, I've wanted this OST for quite some time now. 8)

Protoman Blues

Awesome.  Now use your Stylish Trans-dimensional Magic and get me the Black Knight OST!  XD

You know, first time when the Title Screen was shown on a video clip...
Wasn't anyone reminded of a heroic Buzz Lightyear type theme when the music played? owo

I instantly thought of Toy Story & Super Mario Galaxy after the first time I heard it. I thought I was the only one. XD

VixyNyan

You're not the only one. I thought the whole game (especially since it's mostly on rails and the camera changes a lot), it reminds me of watching a new cartoon show with Sonic in it. Even the animations when Sonic avoids boss attacks is kinda cartoony. x3

Honestly, I'd gladly pay to see a fun Sonic movie that uses the art design of this game. It's one of the few time imo where CG > hand drawn and that says a lot coming from me. XD

Also, in terms of animations, even for as overused as the internet made it, that Sonic "NOOO!" face cracks me up everytime. XD

VixyNyan

Yea, when it comes to CG, Sonic Team does a Way Past Cool work on it, and the animation is smooth too. ^^

Indeed, I mean look at some of these shots:

For the longest time, I was kinda meh on the whole idea of using real world locales instead of Sonic's trippy surrealistic world designs from the past games, but when you see things like this, you just have to admit that not only does it work, but it should have happened a loooong time ago.

Still, I'd kill to see a Green Hill Zone, Angel Island Zone, Stardust Speedway Zone or Carnival Night Zone with this level of art design.

well, sonic 360 DID have super sonic proggrammed into the game apparently, but decided not to make Super sonic availabe in stages. I remember seing a group that hacked it so that it was usable.

Except it had no real animations. I'm willing to bet that the reason they didn't add in that option was because it would probably royally screw the physics, big time. They probably didn't want to mess around with the engine too much when it came to the physics.

That explains the bridge error, it's the physics, since you can't really rotate around the bridge since it forces you into the bird's eye view.

That's the funny part, I have a HARD time getting bored of that song, seriously, I love it that much XD

Let me just say this quickly right now, since class is about to start:

Having sampled the Wii version from a friend and my owning of the 360 version of Unleashed... the 360 one is so much better. I strongly recommend getting it over the Wii and PS2 version. It trumps it in level design, content and, obviously, visuals.

Ephidiel

i will try the wii version soon
and probably ebay the 360 version
