Made this because I always saw shmup and run 'n gun as sister genres.

Anywho, mine are mainly Aero Fighters/Sonic Wings and Strikers 1945. Aero Fighters is a favorite not only becuase it's my first shmup, but the outrageous pilots. Should I play as the dolphin or the baby? :V

Ikaruga.

Pop'n Twinbee.

Parodius was fun.

Axelay, even if just for the music.

And I bet nobody of you guys/gals remembers Biohazard. That's NOT Resident Evil.

I don't like bullet hells.

And I'd say Radiant Silvergun but I never played that. Seems awesome though. Same for Einhänder.

Right now, I add Giga Wing, for the most over-explosive, screen-covering, ridiculous score-counting shmup game from Capcom in like ever. >U<

Anyone knows that one game with a lot of beehives and honeycombs as the points? That looks hella interesting.

GIGAWING, for the highest highscores in the multiverse!

What's the world record? Let's consult Wikipedia:

Quote
The reported world record score for Giga Wing is 291,252,468,839,040 points[1]; the score multiplier mechanic entails a lower limit to the average score for each enemy of many thousands or several millions of points, and end of level bonuses are scaled accordingly.
