Fire, Ice and Elec Why does Capcom like this so much?

In both Classic and X, you had boss A vulnerable to weapon B and you acquire Boss A's weapon to defeat Boss C. Ever since since the Zero series came along, it seems like most bosses are only vulnerable to a certain element instead of the usual acquire bosses weapon and the ranks do not help matters either. Does anyone else wonder why Capcom only stuck the Guardian designs and the elements instead of the usual mega man fare?

Wanda Bear

I guess to make it more of a Zero style of play. If they had stuck to the usual it wouldnt have seemed like a megaman ZERO game. Most of Zero's Specials were those three elements anyway.

I'm pretty sure most of the classic and X series had those elements too o.o

Yeah but I think G-Star is more interested in the whole rock-paper-scissors system that was implemented in the MMZ series.

Electricity is pretty overdone personally. A lot of things use these three as the prime elements. It saddens me honestly, wind is overlooked. Earth as well. Hell, in the FF series, Wind and Earth spells are a minority at best. Non-existent at worst.

I miss the days when the main character was Wind elemental instead of Fire or Lightning, the two most common.

Err... treading on RPG grounds more than Megaman grounds now.

Anyway universally, Fire, Ice, Elec is the main trifecta.

Don't forget Heart!

Ah yes, heart. That and Circle and Triangle, the three elements that represent the cyber-elves.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Wanda Bear

Maybe they stuck to it because those are the elements of the three triforce pieces?

Actually, I thought that was Fire, Water, and Wind?

As well as Power, Wisdom, and Courage!  :V

Aresian

PB is right. Wind was actually featured and isn't really forgotten in the Zelda series.

Bless their heart.

Mind you, Square Enix (or was it just Square?) did this a lot too.

I've never understood why Elec>Fire or Ice>Elec (though I guess the last one has something to do with conductivity?).

I agree with the sheep, games need more Wind and Earth. Well, Love/Heart too of course XD

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

In Star Ocean 3, wind and lightning were the same thing. Kinda makes sense, seeing how both phenomena occur from the sky.

While they are phenomena that are sky oriented, you wouldn't call hail a lightning element would you? It's clearly ice, with wind. You wouldn't call a maelstorm part of the wind, right? It'd be water.

Anyway, point being, they should be separate. They effect separate things. Lightning can damage machines, wind would just batter them at best.

There's no reason we need to dumb ourselves down by picking only a trifecta that doesn't really even oppose one another, nor should we have to lump them together.

I HAVE A DREAM, WHERE LITTLE WIND BOYS AND LITTLE EARTH GIRLS CAN DRINK FROM THE FOUNTAIN OF RPGS FREELY WITH FIRE, ICE AND OTHER [parasitic bomb].

Nobody does.  MMZ uses Elec>Fire>Ice>Elec, while Command Mission uses Elec>Water>Fire>Elec.

Which confuses the *HELL* out of me when I try to play Copy X's minigame in Z3.

It's a frequent practice for "Wind" elements to include whatever weather-related elements were overlooked.  MMZ throws wind and electric together, but in for example Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, Wind and Electric (Thunder) are separate, while Wind attacks make frequent use of ice (Rexcalibur, awesome stuff).

Blackhook

All the lightning based bosses in Z ZX use Windattacks....also you forgot the 4th element = shadow!

Hypershell

Shadow is just a cooler way of saying non-elemental.

Does seem like there's much use of Earth in these games (or I haven't been playing enough Mega Man lately)... and I agree, there's no Heart, either.

I wholeheartedly disagree.

But if you're limiting to platformer series then I have no further objections. :P
