For the moment, here's the description for Mega Man 9.

During a year when the new-retro trend got its big commercial breakthrough, the Capcom-legend Keiji Inafune went further than anyone else, and produced a new Mega Man - adjusted to the limitations from 25 year old hardware. Mega Man 9 looked like a NES game, felt like a completely long nostalgia trip and was full of references to the end of the 80's. But at the same time, it offered a completely new experience. New, and ridiculously damn hard.

I feel vaguely offended by MGS4 being game of the year. Didn't hear anyone speak of the gameplay as amazing, only the story.

Online, yes. Everything else, [tornado fang] no. Also, I saw Boom Blox, LittleBigPlanet, and Mirror's Edge up there with fitting tag lines. These people know games.

Even online is iffy, in terms of what you can do.  Due to IP (Item Pussification), online matches with your friends are determined primarily on items, rather that skill.  Not to mention that 2nd & 3rd place get crap for items like Cloud AIDS, for example.  Random Mirror Mode sucks.  And lets not even get me started on what they did to Battle Mode.  The only thing MKWii has over Brawl is lack of online Lag.  That's about it.

Huh... I just saw a very similar article in a Finnish game magazine (Game Reactor) , where it got the 3:rd place in the downloadable games of 2008 section. Neat.
