I'm happy that they seem to be going away from pure nostalgia wankery and are actually going to try something original.

Mirby

Yeah this second trailer definitely makes it feel more like Star Trek. The first trailer just... wasn't good. At all.

Blue Valkyrie

Yeah Simon Pegg was kinda pissed over the first trailer-he's the main writer for this film apparently. Also the new (old) ship is so tiny-it's adorable.  8D

Mirby

Actually when people started complaining about the first trailer I'd tend to link them to Simon Pegg's explanation that the trailer isn't indicative of the actual movie and what to expect lol

Yeah seems like they just needed a trailer fast to take advantage of Force Awakens and get sci-fi fans hyped for a new trek movie. Sadly that meant giving us a trailer that really told us nothing about the film at all.

Protoman Blues

I mean, I'm much much much MUCH more excited about the Trek TV show than I am the movie.

Mirby

Oh so am I, but at least Beyond actually looks more like it belongs with this trailer than its first trailer indicated.

TV show has the same director as Wrath of Kaaaaaaahn and The Undiscovered Country, mostly considered the best Trek movies in the franchise. So I have high hopes for the new series.

Protoman Blues

And it has Fuller, who made Hannibal, one of the greatest TV shows ever made.

Only thing holding it back is the network it's stuck on right now.  8D

Protoman Blues

Not even so much the network, but the fact that they plan for this to be an online show only.

Isn't only available with their service? Plus and we all know how expensive their DVD will be-they still charge 50 or so dollars for the ToS seasons. So I imagine it'll be the same with this new series.  O^O

I watched Civil War. It's the true Avengers 2.

And Black Panther is BEAST.

Off the top of my head, I'd say

Winter Soldier> Guardians> Civil War> Avengers> Iron Man> Ant Man> Iron Man 3> Captain America> Ultron> Thor >>>>>>>> Iron Man 2 = Thor 2

Basically, I don't like the Thor films. 8D

Police Girl

Civil War was pretty good, though I saw it at a Drive-in and honestly was probably a bit too far away from the screen. :<

Spider-Man and Ant-Man made the big fight scene a lot of fun honestly.

Mirby

Apparently Jeff Goldblum is joining the cast of Thor: Ragnarok.

I'm already imagining him saying, "Loki, uh... finds a way."

Dr. Wily II

Just watched Finding Dory.
It's a nice family movie. I laughed, I teared up, it was nice. But to be honest, I think the plot just isn't as strong as Finding Nemo. Still enjoyed it though.
I'm watching you all. Always watching.

Police Girl

I just finished watching The Fly (1986).

Well, [tornado fang]ing props to the makeup and effects team.

I feel [tornado fang]ing sick to my stomach. So very obviously they did their jobs very well.

Good film, if I ever rewatch i'll make sure to have not eaten in the past hour.

Protoman Blues

Oh yeah, that's a classic.

Sakura Leic

Jeez and I thought the Meaning of Life makes you sick to your stomach. X(
Current playthrough: Chrono Trigger and God Eater Ressurection

Quickman

I saw The Fly when I was six or seven.  Yeeeaaaahhhh... I think I puked.  I remember feeling really ill watching it.

Recently, I went and saw the Conjuring 2.  Great movie!  If it's still playing, go out and give it a watch!  Though, even though it's based on a true story (the Enfield Poltergeist case), the Warrens (Ed and Lorraine) actually had nothing to do with it.  They weren't involved in that case.  That case was actually handled by Guy Lyon Playfair.

So, definitely go see it, but keep that in mind.  It's still a good watch.

Blue Valkyrie

Just got back from Star Trek Beyond

Little bit of after movie hype talking but I'd say it's easily on par with 2009 and way better than Into Darkness. Beyond was really enjoyable and mixed strong characterization with action and tension really well. There is a really interesting connection to the Archer era in this movie.

"Slit her throat."

Poor poor enterprise though.  O^O

Protoman Blues

Yeah. I saw it on Saturday and I liked it as much or possibly more than the first movie. There was little to no nostalgia wankage and it put together its own unique, interesting, and fun story.
