If you don´t feel emotions from a hobby then why are you doing said hobby?

The only thing I feel is excitement, but I don't know if that would count.
SAMPLE TEXT

Mirby

Excitement does count. At least, I think it does. I get excited sometimes when playing some games, like when I narrowly escape defeat or something.

I nearly cried in Metal gear solid when you find Meryl dead on top of REX.

I felt a genuine moment of WTF when I was playing Brawl and they revealed Taboo and every one got turned into trophies.

I also LOL'd at my friends reaction to the ending of Modern Warfare 2. 8D
"This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! It's burning grip tells me to defeat you! Take this! My love, my anger, and all of my sorrow! Shining Finger!!~ "

"This hand of mine is burning red! It's loud roar tells me to grasp victory! Erupting...Burning...FINGER!!!~"

Umm... let's see... I don't recall being emotionally affected by a video game, nor do I think such a thing has happened. Call me non-human or whatever, but somehow I see emotion and gaming as separate worlds.
I don't understand you people.
Either we've just got a "different definitions" problem going on here or we've got such wildly different mindsets that no understanding is possible.

Mirby

Well, I'm not worried about it, personally. Everyone feels differently about different things; this subject is no exception.

I felt utter glee when I beat Doom Dragon once. Everyone was dead except for Sheba, the worst physical attacker. All her Djinni were drained, and she was out of PP. Doom Dragon had one head left. All Sheba could do was attack. Doom Dragon goes first, and uses Guard Aura. I'm like, "[parasitic bomb]. Meh, already set in motion." Sheba attacks, does like 8 damage. Doom Dragon dies. Dead serious here. It was epic. I was like, "HOLY [parasitic bomb]! HOW DID THAT KILL HIM! DAMN!" I started laughing hysterically because I was so amazed that 8 damage was all that was needed to win.

Mind you, this was on one of my many playthroughs of the games.

I'll make a fun post. Moments in gaming which caused me the biggest LACK of feeling.

1- Aeris Pita and YAY SNOWBOARDING!

Everybody knows this scene. "Hey, the leather daddy just went and kebab'd that girl with the weak attack powers! Why? Oh well, I'm sure this scene will be quite fluid with its sadness for awhile so I can fully absorb the feeling of...

SNOWBOARDING YAAAAAAY! (instantly forgot what had happened a bit earlier)

2- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

3- "My wife is de... DINO TOOTH BONUS!"

"Look at the totally sweet weapon I found sticking out of your wife's body! It'll totally cheer you up before I tell you she's dead because of it!"

4- So what did they do wrong again?

"We gotta stop those guys because they're using EVIL schemes to get their own hearts!"
"Like what?"
"Like... making us kill heartless and save the worlds!"
"Don't we do that anyway?"
"SHUT UP GOOFY WHY ARE YOU THE SMARTEST ONE IN THIS GAME FOR SOME REASON ANYWAY"

Mirby

rofl... so true. *looks at her current avatar*

Whew, it's Garfield... not KH-Goofy...

Smash Bros Melee with competitive players is even worse.

NO ITEMS
FOX ONLY
FINAL DESTINATION
NO FUN ALLOWED

There used to be a game store in my neighbourhood, that had a Gamecube and Smash Bros always on. These 4 guys were sitting on the store couch ALL DAY, from when it opened until it closed, just playing that same battle over and over and over and over again. ALWAYS. They did it for about the five years the shop was open.

Mirby

That's just stupid. Part of the fun is the endless possibilities for battles. Not the same thing over and over again.

Count yourself lucky you've never met a Smash Bros tournament player. There was a community of modders who created a NEW version of Brawl just so it could be used for tournaments.

Mirby

That's frickin' ridiculous! I've heard of obsessed, but... damn!

Hypershell

I've heard of that.  I'll be the first to admit that every Smash has its strong points over the others, but some people REALLY need to learn how to live without wave-dashing.

I cannot agree more with Talyn.  What makes that even worse is the casual Smasher's ignorance on the topic.  Ever play Basic Brawl?  FREAKING EVERYBODY picks Final Destination.  OVER, and OVER, and OVER AGAIN.  And Final Destination isn't even the preferred "competitive" stage of Brawl, Battlefield is (due to FD having those "ledges" at the edge which you can get stuck under and Battlefield lacking them; in Melee the reverse was true).

If I wanted every fight in an identical eye-candy-only stage, I'd play Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom.  Brawl's entire charm comes from its variance on all fronts.
Also on DeviantArt, Rumble, DLive.tv, and the Fediverse (@freespeechextremist.com and @bae.st)

Mirby

Exactly. 35 characters (more like 39 counting in alt forms and such) to choose from is good. But there's over 250 unique tracks and literally infinite stages (since you can make your own). You could make a formula, but the answer would still equal infinite possibilites, and that means infinite variance. That's the charm of Brawl, as Hypershell said. They don't like it, tough.

EDIT: And with that Riivolution thing, you can add even more variance to it!
