This is inspired by the wave of VG awards about to hit our digi world. I know the year isn't over, but it shouldn't be a big deal, just change your vote later if a December release tingles your fancy. Sorry if there's already a tradition for this sort of thing! I'll try to keep most questions about 2008.

I think so. Not objectively speaking, but in my mind Mega Man 9 slightly >'s Super Mario Galaxy.

I'm careful with my game choices but... Mario Kart Wii was the least impressive in retrospect.

Not nominating any since I'm careful of what I buy, but let's put 80% of the Wii's library because of how utter [parasitic bomb] it is.

Tales of Vesperia (115 hours!)

Nothing here yet since 2008 isn't over.

Street Fighter II HD Remix

Sonic Unleashed (360/PS3 version, of course. The damn press is just bombing it despite it actually being a super solid game.)

A good majority of the Wii's library.

Can I nominate to have this changed to "Unnecessary Control Gimmicks"? Seriously, I got nothing that would fit "Good" or "Best;" just "useless."

It's up there, sure.

Easily. Sorry, Mario Galaxy. I'll take blazing through levels at thousands of miles per hour over gravity crazy gameplay.

17. Do you plan on getting a next-gen console next year? Which one?
Already own all three, though I'm really regretting the Wii.

18. How could Nintendo have saved their E3 2008 conference?
Wind Waker remake (just adds in the two dungeons and kills Tingle) for appetizers, Metroid Dread on DS as a 2D platformer similar to Super Metroid, and cap it off with that Steampunk Zelda rumor.

I also wouldn't mind seeing that drummer on Wii Music explode on stage (cue gif)

I've gotta say, the Xbox 360 did very well stacked up to its competition.
As an afternote, the DS is still doing well this many years later.

Other than glitchy online, why Dr. Mario Online RX isn't just the toast of the gaming world is beyond me.
10. Most overrated 2008 release
Metal Gear Solid 4. That was terrible execution on Konami's part. For fans of the series, only.

Spore. Never, NEVER, make customization the sole focus of your game.
12. Best gameplay or control mechanic of a 2008 release
Sonic Unleashed's use of rings for boost. Now that's a GREAT idea.

8.5 ~ There were some amazing games and remakes, but there were some real disappointments, too.

Brawl beats SSBMelee in many ways, and I make sure at least one SSB makes it onto my Top 10.

...I...don't remember '07 that much. Anyway, no, couldn't possibly beat SSBB.

No, no, no. I'm still musing over whether to keep the PS2 or the PS3.

They could have at least shown footage of Pikmin 3.

Again, Kirby Super Star Ultra. Been a LONG time since we had a Kirby game in which you don't lose your ability every hit.

7. Not too special for me. Only two games were a major highlight.

KSSU took one of my favorite Kirby games and made it astoundingly better. Of course it is.

I think both are equal, honestly.

Although not necessarily next year, but I'm getting a 360. I wanna play sum Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid.

TWEWY - You can repeat any stage, you have hundreds abilities, and you can change your level and difficulty whenever you want. Fighting using stylus is also brilliant.

Hmm, i'm gonna give it a 7.5 - 8 so far. It could have been a 9 if the console I currently own (Wii) didn't experience so many shortages and shovelware attempts and if the other 2 HD brothers had more games towards my preferences. Keyword there is more.

Definitely.

Hell no. The only game on par with Super Mario Galaxy in my opinion is Super Mario Bros. 3.

I'd say 360, but a bunch of the games on the 360 list, I could get for a better value for my PC. PS3 has Valkyria Chronicles however...

Needs more Yo-Yo using, puzzle solving, & Zoda defeating (StarTropics 3).

Just being fairly factual about this. I've played a lot of great games this year. Compared to them, SU is severely lacking, and thus, has to pay the price.

Spider-man Web of Shadows (DS). Picked this one up on a whim, and actually had a decent time with it. Ignore the console versions, but I would recommend this one to those who dig Metroid-like gameplay and a fun, side-scroller brawler.

GTA4. Not to say it ain't a good game, but even measuring it to GTA:SA, it's lacking in a lot of ways.

Nothing could have saved E3 in its entirety, so I don't see why the burden is on Nintendo. Besides, their JP show where they showcased all that good stuff like S&P2, Mario & Luigi 3, Punch Out Wii and etc. was more than enough, in my opinion.

Too many to name. But MadWorld (Wii) and Oboro Muramasa Youtouden (Wii) are definitely at the top of my personal list.

Until TvC arrives as the "NEW CHALLENGER!!!", this spot is still reserved for Mega Man 2.

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams (Sega can't just take a good core mechanic and run with it anymore, they gotta mix a bunch of mundane crap in with it; that and pointer controls for this game are horrible)

4 The DS had a largely forgettable lineup, and downloadables were Wii's saving grace in the long void between Smash and Rabbids. Mario Kart Wii, despite offering a phenomenal online package, was nowhere near ready for release in terms of offline content, whether Nintendo believes so or not.

15. Is your favorite 2008 release among your favorite games ever?
Yes, even if I STILL miss my Mewtwo.

16. Is your favorite 2008 release better than your favorite 2007 release?
Yes. Rabbids, Godzilla, Fire Emblem, and ZX Advent are all still ravaging each other for the title of my favorite 2007 release. But alone, none of them could beat Smash Bros.

17. Do you plan on getting a next-gen console next year? Which one?
Nope. Money's too tight with no relief in sight, and there's too many games to backtrack to on systems I already own.

18. How could Nintendo have saved their E3 2008 conference?
Tell the Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon translation team to get their asses in gear and release the game sooner.
