Well the game itself is a bunch of Nintendo (and sometimes non-Nintendo) characters all mixed together, why shouldn't the soundtrack take similar inspirations?

-soundtrack was confirmed as a Nintendo Club double pre-order bonus.
-new 3DS has a built-in C-stick, four shoulder buttons (L, R, ZL, and ZR), gyrosensor for adjusted 3D, microSD card slot, and built-in amiibo functionality.
-Xenoblade ported to new 3DS
-Japanese Smash Bros design for 3DS is similar to the European one, with the title swapped with the Smash Emblem.
-3DS customizable case skins that you can swap

By the way, for those hoping for potential Snake (in spite of Kojima claiming to not know), on the 3DS box information, MONOLITH SOFT is also not credited, unlike in all the recent videos with Shulk. Meaning, only the pictures shown on the box must be credited, leaving a small possibility for Snake in spite of his guest status.

Points to consider:
-no Sheik or Toon Link, so characters within series are separated (therefore ZSS should not be here)
-Ganondorf and Ganon are considered different apparently since Ganondorf technically debuted in OoT
-no Pit or Palutena (both 1986) means there is at least a "part 2" of 1986 afterwards.

You should see his best friend Reyn, and Dunban is no slouch either, the dude can only use his left arm and he can climb with just that arm.   Really the game is almost full of badasses.

The game is really long but the good news is that if you do side quests and explore you don't have to grind because you get experience for it.

Well I was planning to upgrade my 3DS eventually regardless anyway, a bigger screen would be nice for Shovel Knight.

Reports says yeah, you do need the New 3DS because of the superior CPU to run Xenoblade Chronicles.

Update: Nintendo unveiled Wii JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles for the new 3DS. The company says the game will only run on the new 3DS, and that's because of its enhanced CPU.

That I'm not sure, it's either that or we have to wait for 5 months.  I also know that my brother wants my 3DS if I get the new one, so I can have my DSi back for DS games like my Pokemon games and Chrono Trigger since it looks so danm funky on the 3DS.

So I don't think we'll be getting a bundle stateside with the new 3DS.

Did you try holding Start/Select while booting your DS games on a 3DS? It brings the screens to the DS's original resolution.

Oh I didn't know about that, I'll give it a try next time.

That's what I figured, maybe when I try to get one for next Christmas or something they'll have other bundles for me to check out.

Ah yeah, it says in the official JP announcement that "there will be no U.S. and European launches this calendar year."

Damn. I'm betting late March for the 3DS's birthday.
