I see, it doesn't seem to make sense for her to actually have her own character splash introduction for a costume change but I guess there will still be clones.  Captain Falcon/Ganon nonwitstanding unless they change Ganon's move set.

I believe she is an alt for Marth. it would make the most sense, given she has exactly all of his moves. Not to mention BOTH Ike and Robin have alternate costumes. Why would Marth be left out? It seems unlikely shes more than an alt costume.

The 'full reveal' with the catch phrase and all that looks more like a misdirect to delay the surprise that Robin is in the game. Not to mention there is a question mark in hers. Also notice almost all the focus was on Robin and his/her new moves.

Lucina is undoubtedly a clone, considering the site lists her as a newcomer if you go into her page and she gets her own slot in the roster, although hopefully the customization will help differentiate her even more from Marth. Marth's costume and overall posture is way too different to reasonably make Lucina an alt costume without downsizing the model a little. If I announced a clone and then a fully new character, i'd put more reveal focus on the full-fledged newcomer myself.

So the Gematsu leaker was proven false when he was deadset it was gonna be Shulk from Xenoblade Chronicles today. However, the Direct that revealed Greninja may still have that one random theory be valid; they showed trophies of Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Metroid and Legend of Zelda. Pseudo-Palutena was a troll joke but then the real Palutena was confirmed at this year's E3, and now Fire Emblem has two more reps. Could this mean some of the last newcomers could be related to Metroid or Zelda?

Well... I'm hoping it's not a true clone, but I'm so glad she made it in. Robin however was the true surprise and totally where my focus lies. I... I don't know how I'm going to manage all this awesome.

Oh and yay for Falcon fans I guess. I... I was hoping he wouldn't make it, but I'm terrible, I know.

Robin is a customizable avatar who operates as your protagonist for Awakening, thus being able to determine his/her gender, voice and appearance. These are the default male and female Robins. Lucina is her own character, a Marth clone definitely since the site lists her by herself. And Chrom is part of Robin's Final Smash, no doubt a reference to Pair Ups.

Rayman.. Well, i'm not sure what to think on that trophy myself.

Robin certainly looks like my type of character as well. I'm glad that there seems to be more options that would suit my style this time around.

I really dunno about Lucina though, maybe another character would have been a better choice for that slot...

...did ANYONE refer to My Unit as "Robin" before today?  I assume that was the default name Awakening gave, but I honestly never noticed.  They could have gone for Morgan and gotten the same result (of course then I'd have probably been whining that my Smash Bros. Morgan can't turn into a dragon).

Anyways, awesome news.  Smash really seems to be dishing out the female characters, AND Robin in alt versions confirms that a skin swap can have unique voices, so that opens up a few possibilities (Dark Pit's tease in Palutena's trailer?).

Also I find it hilarious that other companies are getting involved in Sakurai's misdirections.  The man is nothing if not damn good at keeping the audience guessing.  Which means we still don't know, why the hell does Ubisoft have a trophy in this game?

I personally see it like a thumbs-up to the devs of Rayman Legends after all the bullshit they had to go through involving holding the game back from Wii U (right near its release, too) to make it multi-platform.

Ness has a history of being a badly-kept-secret character, I'm sure he'll pop up.  Earthbound's VC release was kind of a big deal, and damn near the only way the series sees money outside of Japan; they are NOT going to drop the series from Smash and it would be sheer lunacy to drop Ness for anyone else.

I have to admit, if Dr. Mario ISN'T present at least as a skin-swap, it'd be hard to not see that as negligent.  The idea of swappable special moves just BEGS to switch out fireballs for mega vitamins.

Yeah, I miss my Mewtwo...

I remember somebody commenting elsewhere about whether or not certain characters may be left unannounced, specifically referencing Mewtwo in Melee.  I doubt if such would happen in this day and age, but if anyone was going to pull it off, it would be Sakurai.  We can dream, right?
