While there are obviously much more important fanart contests going on right now *cough*lessthanamonthleft*cough*, Capcom-Unity just launched a cool new contest with some pretty outstanding prizes. The contest will run weekly into March, leading up to Mega Man 10's release date.

Each week there will be an artistic battle royale, with the theme being for you to draw something featuring one of the 8 MM10 Robot Masters. First up is COMMANDO MAN.

You can only submit one picture per week. Entries will be due Friday mornings at 7 AM PST, and then all the entries will be put up in a poll for Unity members to vote on. Each week, somebody will win a copy of BOTH the Mega Man and Mega Man X Official Complete Works. And to make things even better, the winning entries each week will be entered into the finals, where the grand prize winner will receive an autographed sketch from Inafune and Ariga. One of those that we saw during the 22nd Anniversary Broadcast. Can't get any more awesome than that!

Cool thing is, those of us who have already drawn a pic featuring any given Robot Master (you know who you are) can submit them. All pics, regardless if they even appeared on the Unity site already, are eligible. But you're still going to have to work fast if you plan to enter every week.

To enter, just send your art in a PM to jgonzo with the subject clearly stating "Commando Man Art Submission" [obviously for each following week, just switch the RM's name].

C'mon, let's give 'em an RPM-filled finals!

Here is the tentative schedule for each week, which I'll try to update with the new Robot Master and deadline when they are made public:

Week 1: January 18th – Commando Man

Week 3: February 1st – Strike Man

Week 5: February 15th – Nitro Man
~~DEADLINE: February 19th, 11 AM PST~~

Week 6: February 22nd – Blade Man
~~DEADLINE: February 26th, 11 AM PST~~

Week 7: March 1st – Chill Man
~~DEADLINE: March 5th, 11 AM PST~~

Week 8: March 8th – Solar Man
~~DEADLINE: March 12th, 11 AM PST~~

Week 9: March 15th – COLLAB CONTEST
DEADLINE: March 29th, 11 AM PST

Sent mine in a few hours ago. I think everyone should have a chance. Originality should play a part as well, and not just crazy amounts of photoshopping.

Week one is over, and the winner was GeminiSaint. RPM didn't show enough love for me or Rad...I guess we have to buy your votes next time.

The two hints from the last post were formally revealed, and our next target is Sheep Man. *whew, I can take a break from rushing this week* The new deadline has been edited into my first post; this time it's been pushed an hour back.

There were like 59 people this week, so we're getting more and more participants. Lots of great entries again. The Cloud Man connection was pretty popular with a lot of people. I'm both happy and dismayed that my 'grazing' pairing has not caught on with anyone else...

jgonzo also opened up a discussion thread so we can discuss all the entries. And that thread is located HERE.

Next week is also completely 100% for certain Strike Man. They didn't even try being sly with the hint this time around. Kinda figured the first three RMs would be the first three that were revealed. After next week, though, it's anyone's guess.
