The game that started it all for me was Megaman 4 for the NES. I remember when I was in elementary school and a friend of mine was selling games for $8.00 a piece since he was moving up the ladder to obtain a SNES. I looked at the games he had in his hands and nothing really got my attention. He then suggested trying "Megaman". I looked at the cover, The Pharaoh looking robot looks cool, as well as the background. I told him "let me borrow it and I'll buy if if I like it okay." Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to play it because I forgot I had soccer practice that night and homework gave me no room for playing. =( I asked the following day if I can borrow it for one more day to due circumstances, but he had to get rid of the games that day..... so I took a gamble and I told him I would buy it. His exact words were "Trust me, you'll like it." "He then shows me a gaming magazine showing "Megaman X" and said "this is the newest game for him coming out so that's why I'm getting a Super Nintendo" That left a big impression so I felt reassured when I bought it. the music, gameplay, story, difficulty, it had it all. Instant fan after that. To this day I still have that same cartridge and am grateful to Manuel for introducing me to Megaman. The best $8.00 I ever spent. ^^
