Have you Island Grinded yet? That's where the true big bucks come in, I think I have like over 700,000 in my account.

-Cicadas (Walker, Giant, Robust, Brown, and Shell)
-Banded Dragonfly
-Walking Stick
-Walking Leaf
-Grasshoppers
-All Island Beetles
-Scorpions

The following fish are now available on the Mainland:

-Sweetfish
-Arapaima
-Napoleonfish
-Blue Marlin
-Pufferfish

And the following deep sea creatures are now available:

-Horseshoe Crab

In addition, these insects and fish are now unavailable.

-Cherry Salmon
-Char
-Rainbow Trout
-Common Butterfly
-Yellow Butterfly
-Violin Beetle
-Ladybug
-Firefly

I missed the Vionin Beetle and Char but that should be fine.

Its not a big deal, you need to have a stump for the Violin beetle and the Char you need to get at the waterfall closest to the ocean.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING, though I guess if you have limited time to play then Beetle grinding isn't really the best thing to do with that time.

There's also selling ores if you don't use them, and money rocks.

Or if you have the silver shovel sometimes Money Rocks spew out exclusively ore.

Its the best way to get gold nuggets.

Museum Expansion, that's how you get most of the Silver Tools in the game.

I think the only exceptions are the Silver Axe, Slingshot, and Watering Can.

Also if you don't have that just keep buying saplings and flowers from the gardening store so the Golden Shovel becomes available.

How does one expand the museum?

It gets a second floor but it's just called an expansion.  Anyway you have to talk to Blathers on 14 different days and make sure you at least donated 20 or 50 items and at least one in each category.  You'll see him thinking and he'll request it.  A week after that he'll request a Cafe.
