I figure I may as well post this here, as it is pretty darned awesome.
It's a MUGEN-based megaman fighting game set in the X series with a number of fan-made characters. It's called 22XX: Grand Tournament. If you go to my sprite thread on any sort of regular basis, than you've heard of it.
It's still in the demo stages, and they're planning to release the next demo before the end of the year. For the last demo, click here

Screenshots from the next demo in the spoiler.

Pretty neat to see the game got mentioned here!

Inch and I will wind up making a thread for the game once we post demo 2.5 (hopefully sometime today).

Glad there's some interest in it over here. :)

really dont think it'd ever matter to anyone, since it'd be totally pointless having a real NES version of mm9.
I only did this for the sake of "just for fun". Copying a screen of galaxy using a mm 3 rom.

Just thought i'd show you people anyway

While I would totally play this, I think there may be some law suits, or copyright infringement for someone recreating mega man 9.

While fan work is okay, but re-creating something like this (even still new as megaman 9) is, just i don't know...

kuja killer

Yea, i know. I wasn't going to or anything. I was just bored last night. I wouldn't ever wanna get in trouble.

N-Mario

I don't know if this is just animation, or if it's a real fan game, but it's just awesome.

Whoever made this, did an impressive job. :)

Game: ...! wow~ So much work done and it plays pretty good. The engine doesn't look 100% identical to the official engine, because Rock kinda moves and jumps in a weird way. Maybe change the speed rate when walking, and the gravity for jumping and it would be alright. ^^

Cutscene Artworks: It should resemble the same art style of MM9 and the past NES games too.

Music: Um, it doesn't exactly sound like actual NES music. It's not bad either.

But if you just heap praise on someone for trying they'll think it's good enough when it's not. I could be more constructive, but I doubt the makers see these forums..

It's not in my nature to offend others (I have Kind & Generous as my title for a reason), but I guess I should give more criticism. ^^

What are you talking about?

kuja killer

I doubt it's actually real. Maybe a rom hack of a particular NES mm game. But i don't believe it for 1 second unless there were official word from Capcom of keiji Inafune himself.

Align

Oh, we know it's not official, but it might be(come) worth looking into.

VixyNyan

It's not a ROM Hack. Unless it's a very powerful use of ASM programming, it's a Fan Game. Difference.
Wily and Light were drawn differently than the official art, and the title screen had more options to choose from.

And also the few pointers I mentioned a while ago.

All in all, we want this game to come to fruition, yes? I know I do.

Incidently, I didn't mind the music myself. It was pretty decent. And anything that shows an idea of continuinity within the Classic series, bridging it to X, I'm readily up for.

That MM10 thing looks pretty cool actually. The music is bearable, though I kinda miss a concept in the melody. It feels like he was just using random tones while hoping to get a track.

But wouldn't being a fangame render any idea completely void? I mean it's OK as long as people remember it's fanmade, and don't take it for real.

lizardcommando

I really don't get how most of you actually liked the music in that MegaMan 10 fangame. It was really annoying and irritating. It sounded even worse than the music from MM2 for the Game Boy.

The game itself looks impressive. The level graphics looked pretty neat as do most of the cutscene graphics. The only thing that bugs me is that Weapon Get graphic. It looks really weird to me, especially the leg that's supposed to be sticking out closest to the camera.

Have you listened to Rockman.EXE WS? <3

But that soundtrack wasn't bad at all.

Nexus

One COULD say it's a fangame, but at times the "playing" seemed abit too... Robotic, if you know what I mean (no puns intended). Granted, you see a brief second of the player killed by Tank Man, but it could just be a clever trick. I'm in the "it's animation" group. And a damn good one at that.

Also, I could bear the music, but it just sounded awful when compared to any official game's music.  :(

the music of all but the first GB game badly overused that one instrument, I can't place it, sounds a little like a marching drum, but also a bit like a cymbal
It's not bad, though.
