For the first time in all of my game design experience, I made a server and client exchange messages smoothly. Even got the client to send a server a whole UTF-8 string, which was decoded just fine by the server, which then sent a message to the client in reply which was picked up exactly as I meant it.

On your question, maybe because it's three letters followed by a dash that looks like a minus sign and a number? It's actually a kind of text format. It uses multiple bytes per character to allow a greater range of characters, as opposed to Game Maker's original 8bit format. Luckily Game Maker added a function for getting string length by bytes according to UTF-8, so all that was left was to hope to god the extension decoded it into the same format.

So for Christmas I got a UNLV sweater (the college I'll be attending), one of those packs of Axe products because I'm such a manly man, some facial care products that I needed, and a pair of sneakers. Yeah sure. Not bad. Better than nothing especially since I didn't ask for anything this year. But then I log onto my Steam account and I have a steam gift of Portal and Portal 2 omgwtfbbq damn nice.

Also, I really should clear out that 24GB of animu. Because that's taking up 24GB and I don't have a big hard drive.

Got something to organize the massive amount of change I have, a copy of Pokemon White 2, Alice in the Country of Clover Cherishire Cat Waltz, a cookbook to make Macarons, and of course the PS3.  Pretty good haul.

Anyway, I got a new chair (Leather! Well it smells like it at least.) and a floor mat for my computer, Paper Mario Sticker Star on the 3DS, Lots of Candy, some touchscreen-compatible gloves, two sweaters, and Seasons 14 and 15 of the Simpsons (Though not on blu-ray for some reason, whatever its the same amount of discs anyway and its not like they would've looked any better.)
