You know, years later from when I originally have seen the film, Chicken Run has that same dark tone in the setting as with Wreck-It Ralph, despite being released years apart from each other.
For example, both carry the theme of escaping average, everyday life while being looked down upon/fear'd, while they have your typical outcast of the group (Rocky the Rooster/Vanellope Von Schweetz) which form a close bond. Then you have your hotshot military dude/gal (in the form of the lone, solitary rooster in the barn and the soldier with a tragic past). Add to that you got the oppressive ruler (Miss Tweeny and King Candy, respectively). Both end in an arieal showdown, though despite similar scenarios, the setup is suprisingly different.
And during the final bout of Chicken Run, eggs were tossed at Miss Tweeny. Those eggs were effectively killed as you know, the chicks in the end were fortunate enough to hatch.. Which leads to several deaths, albeit most of the casualties being chickens.
