This week's Famitsu announces yet another new Image Epoch title. This time, it's Fate/Extra from MMV. It's based on the Fate/Stay Night universe by Type Moon, and it looks like a 3D dungeon RPG with some sort of action based battles. Takashi Takeuchi from Type Moon is the character supervisor, while Kinoko Nasu from Type Moon is the scenario supervisor. Kazuya Niinou (EO, 7th Dragon) is producing the game, while Shuetsu Kadowaki (Luminous Arc 2 director) is directing.

But wasn't both Rin and Shirou(for example) schoolkids? It's nothing new in this series.

In the anime, yes. but I was talking animu-RPGs, there's (almost) always a pair of schoolkids and soldiers getting involved in an anime's plot. SRW is not the best example, but Inuyasha RPG (PS2) is a better example of this, so is the Zoids RPGs (there's always a couple of origionals in each title).

Missed there was a thread about Extra here.

So yeah let's see...it has TRON Lancer, Rin dressed like a hooker, mother [chameleon sting]ing Shinji, a new pirate Rider, a Magical Amber servant (probably Caster), yet another Saber variation (unless it's Mordred or Joan D'Arc) and they left Archer untouched (so that would mean his master is Shiro or someone used Shiro, that gem or something as catalyst).

I'm all for alternate realities but this is damn bizarre and we have yet to see if the gameplay is any good.

It's already been like that since Tiger Colosseum. In fact this is probably lightyears better than TC and we don't even know how this game plays.
