Am I the only one that liked the Cataclysm theory?  It made more sense at the time of its creation than anything Capcom's spewed out regarding the convoluted timeline since.

At least that theory has been adopted and averted.. plenty of times by a blue hedgehog who can turn into his inverted color form when near seven gems in every game as of now.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

Forgive my ignorance, but what in the name of Light's puffy beard does Sonic have to do with anything?

Relaited cataclysmic theory my friend. they are identical, actually.

One robot goes berserk, and nearly destroys everything until defeated.

One diety goes beserk, and destroys half of whatever (be it the moon, the earth, etc), until defeated.

See the diffrence?

Oh...

I still think the Cataclysm idea was better than what Capcom's given us: next to nothing.  I understand it was derailed bt Inafking himself, but I don't have to like it...

I never liked the Cataclysm theory.  I think classic MM could have beaten Zero.  Player 1 always wins.

Like I always say when these discussions come up, I like to think that Light put all his guys in capsuls and they're just out there sleeping.

Bag of Magic Food

But I'm sick of capsules too.  Does it really help anyone for robots to lie idle for decades?

Gauntlet101010

Doesn't hurt anyone.  Besides, Capsules are always chick in the MM series.

So Megaman is sitting on some blue moon somewhere?
i dont think it would be like megaman to just leave like that.

If he was forced to, he would. Plus, he wants to live peacefully. Light wishes the same. Rock and Duo hit it off pretty much. So 'Blue Moon'? Not really. Another home world with more justice energy and peace? Sounds more plausible.

And like I said, that's been already adopted by another gaming company too. Rock being plucked from earth by Duo does sound more agreeable, it is a possibility.

That's an ok theory.  But it lacks finality.

Zan

But isn't a capsule the same way? Capsules just mean he'll be back in action someday.

Flame

Unless the capsule breaks or something happens while hes in stasis. If he was in stasis in Dr. lights lab, with Roll and Rush, along with X, maybe in another area, if a part of the roof were to collapse over them, if it breaks the capsule, it could break them too...

...When Larry the reploid accountant goes maverick of his own accord, he's certainly formidable during tax season, but he isn't going to provide X the challenge needed to make him grow as a warrior and reach his potential.

No, it just leaves that option open.  It's like killing him, just without the death.

With him in space you're still left with the question of whatever happened to him.  It doesn't really answer the question.  When people ask "what happens to MM" they usually really mean "how do you suppose he dies".  Because, if all your answer is, is just "MM continues to fight the good fight", he can do that quite easily on Earth without having to go into space at all.

Oh like when Billy went to stay with the Aquitar Rangers

But the good fight already ended on Earth. Elsewhere more pressing matters exist.

Go, MegaRockMan, go, MegaRockMan, go, MegaRockMan, go........   IN SPACE!

Zechs

That is under the assumption that MM has to die. It is possible that he doesn't die. Yet continues to live peacefully in his 'new home'.

Yeah, old video game characters never die.  They live on in rereleases!

Just saying that he's in space isn't an ending.  Is he retired (in space)?  Does he battle on (in space)?  What's the ending?

I can see space being a nice place to stick MM, since it keeps him out of the way.  But it's unnessasary for any ending you happen to give him.  It also makes things abit silly no matter what.  "MM continues to have adventures ... in SPACE!"  "MM happily retires ... IN SPACE!"  "MM becomes a mature hero and inspires others ... IN SPACE!"  "MM is placed in a capsule ... in SPACE!"  Just silly.  But possible, sure.

Bass, though, I can see fighting the neverending good fight.  That's where they seem to be going with him.  Always disobeying Wily and chalk full of good energy and all.  He's Megaman's Vegeta.

Maybe Bass fights the never ending battle ... in space?

Thanatos-Zero

You all did pretty much hit my nail of thought. For Rock it would be the best solution to go with Duo into space, since he is no longer welcome on earth, because he is feared along with other sentinent robots by all mankind.

Galappan

They each put into a capsule & scattered all over the world beneath the ground.

Finders keepers...

Zechs

It is still possible for the Quint paradox to continue. Rock was kidnapped during a down time... That also could account for his disappearance. Though not for Bass nor Roll.

Of course, that is merely an option...

Zan

QuoteIt also makes things abit silly no matter what.

If you put everything like that, it becomes silly, no matter what. But really, this is the classic series, lighthearted cheesy and silly plotlines are the status quo.

QuoteThat is under the assumption that MM has to die. It is possible that he doesn't die. Yet continues to live peacefully in his 'new home'.

During the production of X and Zero, the Wily Incidents officially ended. Afterward, it is official that Wily died in the interim of classic and X.

Similar scenarios during the Quint and R-Shadow timeline(s). Wily had retired, Rock had retired. That momentary blissful peace will always occurs before the world of the future goes to hell.
