"Alright, sweet! I finally got a Legendary Cosmic Blade on Disgaea DS! Now I can get the Yoshitsuna!

*progress 99 floors later* Alright, finally got to the end after an hour of just walking around, let's just exit and save so I don't screw things up.

*return after saving* Why doesn't the Item God have the Yoshitsuna? Why is the Item God NOT IG2? ....WHY THE [tornado fang] WOULD YOU DO THAT?! THAT'S BULLSHIT!"

Basic run-down of what had happened to me not more than 5 minutes ago. Apparently leaving the 99 floor of a legendary rank 39 item will refuse to let you get the rank 40 of the item, making all of your work for naught. I spent god knows how much time trying to get the [tornado fang]ing Legendary Cosmic Blade (I'd get every other legendary rank 39 weapon EXCEPT the sword), spent about an hour or so going through a hundred floors, just to get ripped off when I saved to make sure nothing bad happened, WHEN IN FACT BAD THING DID HAPPEN! What sucks is, I have no save file after getting the sword but before I went into it, so I can't even just go through the whole thing again, I have to find another [tornado fang]ing copy of the damn sword and just steal it outright from the [tornado fang]ing IG2.

Anyone else have a similar story of BS they'd like to share?

Thanks for helping me avoid the apparent unavoidablility of grabbing Lv39 weapons; I'll stick to character grinding. Far more important than upgrading weapons, which you can find them in shops in-between stages.

I'm still getting Afternoon of Darkness though.

well actually i dont or dont even remember anything BS happen in Disgaea

Disgaea 1 difficulty>Disgaea 2 difficulty -_-

strangely getting a Yoshitsuna in D2 is easier than D1......except that leveling them up to LV200 is hard  B(

well,actually i BS'ed Suikoden V,
in the New Queens Campaign,i placed the weakest chars for Kyle's party.....which is supposed to be toughest battle for that team......i screwed there because there is no way to change the team when night time falls before the campaign starts....plus there's no back up save file for me to load....so i had to replay the new game again.......that saved file,i screwed on recruiting allies anyway,,so i might end up getting a bad ending anyway,im glad that i screwed up~  8D

Forgot to draw Siren out of Eltoire in FFVIII.

and didn't realised I'd missed it till 3rd disc.

I don't really remember too many blatant BS situations off-hand.

Years ago, while playing Drowned God, I screwed up a puzzle, but the game progressed anyway, so I didn't think much of it.  Second disk, I find that the puzzle apparently was vital to the game, so I lacked some key item needed for another puzzle, which meant I needed to restart the game.

Bullshit situations put me off of games. I've not encountered any too game breaking for me, but despite my interest in Disgaea I worry about what it'll do to my sanity

Mario Kart: Double Dash.  When just doing 1 on 1 races, it was clear that 2nd place had absolutely no chance of ever catching up to first, especially if you liked being Koopa Troopa, and thus got your "Special" Box Triple Green Shells all the time, which I did.  Then finally, after many many crap matches, my friend and I finally got the Spiny Shell on the 3rd lap.  I was looking at Lou's screen as the Shell LITERALLY targeted him and then for no reason, veered off into nowhere.  That was the last time I ever touched that game.

You mean Elvoret. (And YES, I do remember all the boss names from FF8. I love it THAT much.)

Same happened to me once. Forgot to draw Alexander out of Edea at the end of Disc 2. Fortunately, you can draw the boss GFs from the bosses inside Ultimecia's Castle in Disc 4, but that meant not getting Doomtrain soon enough for the Bahamutt and Ultima Weapon fights. D:

Tales of Vesperia. I was looking forward to finishing the file on my second playthrough by pummeling the secret dungeon. However, the window of opportunity to unlock it is tiny (and takes place in the middle of the game.) Yeah, I missed it in my haste. Hello playthrough #3!

I learn to just be careful and when it's honky-dory to save, and when it isn't. Usually, since I pick up pretty quick, I can usually make a good save point that minimizes the hassle of going back and re-doing stuff later.

I hate forgetting to save and re-doing things. That's usually why I move on to other games.

Hmmm Disgaea, I should play through those someday, maybe soon, maybe now, should I?

And I can't really think of any moments right now, I tend to blame myself before blaming the game, but I do remember not liking the desert area in BoF3 very much (you had to follow the stars to find the way out or something) and I don't think I ever passed it o.o;  Though I'm pretty sure that's jus my fault for not understand what to do ^^;

Mario Kart Wii and the damn items. My luck with them is so abysmal and it frustrates me to no end. Other people seem to get good stuff, but for whatever reason if I'm lagging behind I still get, at most, a single red shell. Joy in a box.

You really aren't the only one. It royally sucks to be so good that you can stay a consistent 2nd behind the worst kinds of cheaters, but not draw the right kind of firepower to get them and proclaim "[shadow runner] [tornado fang] YO KART!"

When ever my friends and I are playing Brawl, and a smash ball appears, i usual get in a few strong attacks then out a no where either my friend or the computer sneaks up, give it a little tap and steal the final smash ability from me!  >8|

Mario Kart just seems to have gone to hell since Double Dash. I can't say I was fond of the rubber banding in DS and STM knows why.

Oh that's right, the origional SNES Mario Kart. I remember the odds always change when you race, as you didin't have to worry about Blue Shells and what kind of Kart you have to use nowadays.

Really? That's to the far left of my Mario Kart 64 experience. Now I keep on hearing a lot about how MK64 isn't that great to which I really have to wonder. Looking at it now it had:

+ The best item efficiency in the series
+ Stellar item balancing. You could be first or second and get super items (Spiny Shells, Boos, Starmen) although the ratio for them was lower. Likewise you could get overconfident in your item draws in the lower places and be brought back to reality with a banana bunch instead of the Star you wanted.
+ Speaking of spiny shell, the "turf cruiser" involved a fair bit of skill to use and then there was the awesome fact that it could serve as a match equalizer since it hit anything in its way.
+ Multiplayer modes were godly.
+ Best racetrack designs. (I really hated how all the courses went and got smaller from MK64 to DD/DS/Wii)
+ Music. Hands down best music in the series came from this game.
+ Kart Physics. If you hit a wall, you still kept a fair bit of momentum, same with being flipped in the air and actually driving. Sometimes in the later games, I feel like the sense of speed is somewhat nerfed coming from MK64's 150cc & Mirror Modes.
+ Keeping stock items. This BS that Double Dash started really took a toll on things in the later entries. How come all of a sudden, if I get hit with lightning or a star, or anything that can flip a kart, I lose my stock item?
- Rubberbanding. This doesn't affect me as much since it was somewhat humorous to me to see how the AI would designate two specific characters to race against you in first place and honestly I really don't get the big deal either. Uber item spam like MKWii (o hai thar Cloud AIDS, Bullet Bill, "Tsar Bomba" Blue Shell and Lightning) is infinitely more enthusiasm killing that a few AI quips, especially since in that game you could you know, keep moving after taking a hit.

Honestly, in my opinion, the only things that the later Mks added to the series were awesome online modes, more characters, bikes, a simple trick boost mechanic, and doubles karts. Still I don't think that the series is turning bad at all. As long as I can have fun with it all, it's doing well.
