Okay my friend is going to hack my Sould Silver game with all the items I may of may not need and am going to start the process of getting and EV training the 9 pokemon I want, but I'm unsure about 1 of them.  I want to train a Metagross to be a physical attack shield like I would for my Roserade and Mamoswine, who are a special attack shield and a high HP meat shield respectivly. 

The problem is I don't know if I should teach the Metagross Rest or Magnet Rise, any suggestions?

Depends on your Metagross. If its more defensive, then rest is ok, but you'd need to take up another slot for Sleep Talk so he won't be too defenseless. That or give him a berry that wakes him up immediately. Other than that, Magnet Rise is better.

Right and since I don't want Sleep Talk, Magnet Rise would be the better choice.

Rest is ok if you have a berry or item to wake him or or have the ability Early Bird. However, it takes up an item slot that could be more useful, like a Choice item or a stat affecting item like Lagging Tail (useless item unless its used for a strategy). Recover is better, but as far as I know, only legendaries and Psychics can get it.

Unless I use Trick Room, Lagging Tail is pretty unnecessary.

Don't bother, Avalanche has -4 priority anyway.

I say you take Agility/another attack over Magnet Rise. Metagross is slow enough that a lot of the time you'll get outsped and Earthquaked before you can use it anyway.

Curse is a far better option; Avalanche will more than likely be going last, so you may as well take advantage of it!

As I said before I already plan for it to be very slow without a lagging tail and it's going to be my high HP meat sheild so I'm going to teach it Rest and give it Leftovers.

Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver - Winner's Path Event

Nintendo have announced that the Winner's Path Pokéwalker course is to be given over WiFi for Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver from tomorrow, May 6th until June 25th 2010. This event will be available for America, Canada, Europe and Australasia. It has numerous Pokémon in it with moves they may not normally know such as a Zen Headbutt Beldum and a Self Destructing Munchlax
