Just like the Konami games, Enter/Start isn't necessary.
Example on Contra, before you gonna play, pressing Select and then Start will give 30 lives to both players. ^^

It also gave cutesy words in other places besides the magical ESPN it looked like. The columnists got a "cute" and "lovely" before their names, "sparkly" is added to one of the headlines, and it also seems the hyperlinks to click to read the full story got some pink special treatment as well.
