This is probably my new favorite thread. That R4 sphinx is fab-u-lous!

So, are any of those betas really for sale by those guys?

Yup, I spoke with both users a month or so ago, they're willing to part with them...at the right price.

The fellow with the long list of betas said everything is over a $100, didn't specify other than that. As for the X7 gentlemen, he wants "over $200."

Heh, man was my face red when I tried to offer $45 for the X7 beta.

Yeah, that's very expensive, but the whole "one of a kind" thing is what makes it like that =/

My life is currently bears and Jojos and everything is great.

Yeah, but lemme put it this way:

Are you familiar with the Megaman 3 beta?  The one which just has some programming and graphical glitches, but is otherwise exactly the same as the final?

That is not worth $100.  I mean it's "cool" to have something unique, but if it's almost exactly like the final, then it isn't worth it IMHO.

Rick

Well, look out. It may seem like I'm spamming my wiki, but really, I'm contributing. I just don't feel like typing everything out.

NES
Mega Man
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 5

SNES
Mega Man Soccer
Mega Man X
Mega Man X2
Mega Man X3

By the way, if any of you decide to do stuff with my wiki, please read the guidelines on the main page first. I'm rather specific with the content.

Actually, if you look at Neon Tiger's room in in the back of the box it seems to be the same beta as Rodrigo Shin posted, which had the different Bit and Byte.

Which gives us a bit more of an idea as to where X3 was headed.

The Great Gonzo

I must question why the credits for MM Soccer got nixed.

This is gonna be a tough one, but...does anyone have any magazine previews of the first Megaman, or any visual evidence that it was originally going to be an Astro Boy/arcade/FDS game?

I know I've got an early RnR1 preview lying around here somewhere, but God knows when I'll be able to scan it...

Gaia

Like THE Donkey Kong origionally going to be a Popeye game? That's a mystery.

For the credits part, I think they were either in a hurry, or all sports games are like that. who knows.

One mention of LEGENDS and everyone goes batshit.  :\

Yep, every time when someone mentions that game people get energized for an apparent reason whatsoever. It's like this everywhere else, trust me.

It got really messy to find my sprite and comic topic, so it's in my sig.

I don't think that there is any prototype of an arcade MM game; I think it was always just a very early idea that got shelved before the game went into production.

The Great Gonzo

Thought so. Guess we'll have to wait for Retro Gamer to cover it in their "Making Of" feature...

The Great Gonzo

Didn't find that RnR preview, but I did find this:

There's another, earlier preview, but I don't think it had anything interesting.

What's different about this screen?

I remember a trial version of MM PU ... did it have any differences?

VixyNyan

You can play the exact same Trial Version if you use the Transfer feature in Irregular Hunter X (MM:MHX).
You have to send that Trial to another PSP to play it. It's Fireman's stage on it. I don't remember any changes. '>.>

Not much. I still thought it was worth posting here, it being a preview and all...arg.

A whole [parasitic bomb] load of Mega Man prototypes are up for sale at the Hidden Palace:

QuoteNES:
Mega Man 2
Mega Man 3
Mega Man 4
Mega Man 5

SNES:
Rockman X3 Sample
Mega Man 7
Mega Man Soccer (early, no gameplay)

Everything is going for well over a $100. You can either buy the proto itself or have them dump it for you. Either way, it's gonna cost.

I called Protodude for this. The seller is DreamTR, a prototype collector who is kindly willing to dump his prototypes in return for a bit of cash in return for what he originally invested in them. His "affiliate" who's posting this is "drx", who is also famous in the Sonic community for leaking over a thousand protos on Feb. 28, 2008.

Just thinking though, it probably wouldn't cost as much a say a copy of BioHazard/Resident Evil 1.5 for $2000. A prototype of Rockman X3 would most likely cost in the lower hundreds. But that's just me. I think we as a MM community should pitch in, make some sort of a donation drive, and buy as much as we can. Again, that my rear end talking. No seriously, I think we all should take this opportunity before its gone for good.

Protodude

The author of the post has added pricing to the  games:

QuoteMega Man 2 -$850
Mega Man 3 -$700
Mega Man 4 -$750
Mega Man 5 -$750

GameBoy
Rockman World -$750
Megaman 2 -$750

GameBoy Advance
Mega Man Battle Network 2 (debug) -$400

GameGear
Mega Man -$750

SNES
Rockman X3 sample -$1000
Mega Man 7 -$750
Mega Man Soccer (no gameplay)-$250

---

I know for a fact that Rockman world is early and is an English Japanese hybrid and Rockman X3 has a lot of differences. No idea on any other protos.

Let me know how much you can spare on each proto and we'll see if we can work something out.

Damn. Guess I was wrong. Of all protos, I'd like that Rockman X3 proto, though.

Rockman X4 Trial Disc
Product code: SLPM 80121

Appeared on Y! Auctions Japan a little over six months ago, has since to reappear.  Supposedly, it contains a demo of Rockman X4 and some videos related to RM8 and B&C. No clue where this came from, I'm certain it wasn't a pack-in; possibly a Capcom Friendly club promo thing.

No PSX product code databases lists the disc, so I guess you could consider it rare.
